Well, after contemplating jumping off the proverbial bridge, I've taken a deep breath and want to look on the bright side and say that Jed is looking at a complete fresh start and trying a young, fresh approach to HC and Gm with some Veteran shoulders around that they can lean on when they need guidance. Might work.
(gotta look on the bright side. I can no more turn off my long fanatacism for the 49ers then I can stop breathing. gotta hope for the best....)

Exactly. Hamstrings the organization when this goes to s**t, will be stuck with a bad coach / GM pairing.
No it doesnt

OMG stop, cry me a frickin river why don't you. Eff Louis Riddick, because he seems to be the only one crying, I'm glad Riddick didn't get hired.
(of course I'm basing this off of what he said about KS)

Apparently some white execs were passed over too, who cares? If Riddick or Jimmy Raye want to be the personnel guy for Lynch, I'm sure they'd be considered.
I was about to post the same thing..glad I turned the page.

Why? Do you honestly care how much money Jed has on the line here? When you fire 3 head coaches in 3 years you need to make a statement, a 6 year contract is making a statement that these guys will have a lot of leeway to do what needs to be done. I really hope it works out.
As much as I was perplexed by the news when I heard, I love the thought of a guy that was coached by Bill Walsh, Denny Green, Jon Gruden and Mike Shanahan heading up the 49ers front office. His only Parcells connection is through Belichick.
I'm not surprised at all that it took 6 year deals (GM and HC). Jed has been such a pisser poor decision maker that is what it was going to take. It is just ridiculous that giving two 6 year deals to two guys with ZERO experience for their newly hired roles. Kyle Shanahan I get...John Lynch...I guess we'll see.
At the very least...I'm just glad there is a guy who won't be afraid to communicate about the team and also will hold Jed/Paraag accountable for things that he wants. Like other posters have noted...he told them this whole thing had to be kept secret...not a peep. So...now who's really in charge? And I would rather John Lynch in charge more than Jed/Paraag. lol

Neat. He was associated with some great Head Coaches. Who were the GM's he was exposed to?

John Lynch stayed at Jed York's house in the Bay Area on Thursday night and flew with #49ers party to Atlanta to meet with Kyle Shanahan.
Prolly gave him head.
Bald head.

If you wanted Steve Young for GM but are criticizing the Lynch hire........you's a hypocrite.

Wow, they need to just stop. If they're this dumb, I'm glad they got passed over.

Only if you think of him as a traditional GM which doesn't appear to be the case.
He'll be bringing in a personnel guy to handle that side of things. Are you saying he has no clue what he is doing when it comes to speaking to the media, addressing players, meeting with free agents?

I think Lynch will not only bring in free agents, but I think he will help with assembling Shanahan's coaching staff. Yup I'm not mad anymore about the hiring, I'm game!!!
