great. We just hired the Jim Tomsula of GMs.

Nice guy. No clue what he is doing.

Tomsula went to Catawa College. John Lynch went to Stanford. Let's not overreact here.
It's not like Lynch is the only guy in the front office. Still have Gamble (and Joan in payroll). Totally unexpected but it takes the pressure off of Shanahan. Any perceived bumps in the road won't immediately point only to the young rookie HC. Once i came too after falling over in my chair, I've kind of warmed to the idea. Should be interesting up to 2023

Exactly. Hamstrings the organization when this goes to s**t, will be stuck with a bad coach / GM pairing.

Hamstrings the organization? WTF are you talking about? The Niners are among the most profitable sports franchises in the world. THE. WORLD.

They don't give a f**k about the 5th and 6th year of a GM or HC contract. They'll make that up in two weeks of in-season revenue.
The 49ers are a clown show, Lynch as GM is terrible
No need to be bitter. Let's get to work
Why wouldn't you take a 6 year deal in this game. Your cashed out at this point

This makes no sense to me. My question would be...If York was going to hire someone with ZERO experience but can communicate vision and is a (or soon to be) Hall of Famer...why would you NOT just hire the guy that last won this team a Super Bowl and has connections to the Shannys???

Oh, come on. Obviously the intention wasn't to hire the most experienced individual or McDonough would've had the job already. Not that experience is necessarily the best indicator of success.

Lots of better qualified white candidates got passed over too.

Not even comparable. This guy is smart and can command a room. Tomsula couldn't put a sentence together in front of a camera

I think Lynch could be a major boost to this team attracting free agents. In terms of a public face of the organization you get someone that is highly intelligent, well-spoken and charismatic.

You go from this:

to this

Someone who was a good football player with a great personality can bring a lot of players to this team during the FA. I would like to see how this will turn out.
I'm curious as to what make Lynch think he can and wanted the GM job. Media people should ask him his thought process in taking the Niners situation. Having Kyle Shanahan as the offensive minded HC is enticing certainly. But what all the other stuff that goes along with the job. Also, he must've given them/Kyle a credible assistant guy to compensate for his inexperience GM resume.
