Bill Walsh (Stanford)
Sam Wyche (Tampa Bay)
Tony Dungy (Tampa Bay)
Jon Gruden (Tampa Bay)
Mike Shanahan (Denver)
Bill Bellichick (New England)

Wow, very impressive!
That must make him a good coach right?

No, but it means he probably knows what a winning culture looks like. The question will be if he can apply that to make good decisions.

From Jay Glazer

John Lynch is EXACTLY who you'd want turning a place around. Ultimate out-work-the-world type with zero politics to him and has different level of respect from players and coaches.

I like that a lot and if he can get the personnel headed in the right direction we could be sitting pretty

That is good to hear. Keep' em coming, 'cause I'm still shocked.

This makes no sense to me. My question would be...If York was going to hire someone with ZERO experience but can communicate vision and is a (or soon to be) Hall of Famer...why would you NOT just hire the guy that last won this team a Super Bowl and has connections to the Shannys???

Because Lynch has a close relationship with the Shanahan's, both Kyle and Mike. You're assuming that Steve has that sort of relationship with them.

Your comment makes no sense to me. You're basically saying if they're going to hire someone with no experience why not just hire Steve Young, but that assumes:

1) Steve Young would have wanted to job

2) that Steve Young is a better for what KS wants (<--very important)

How do you know that either of these things are true?

Peter King @SI_PeterKing
Still stunning. Initial reaction: Will need big personnel help. But Kyle Shanahan is ready. Lynch a dogged Elway type. I like this teaming.
Lol, what an odd hire

I kind of look at it as the Elway hire that seemed to work out fine
Jed didn't lie when he said he wanted to change the face of the franchise. I'm excited about John Lynch and I am eagerly watching to see who he surrounds himself with in the front office.

great. We just hired the Jim Tomsula of GMs.

Nice guy. No clue what he is doing.

Not even comparable. This guy is smart and can command a room. Tomsula couldn't put a sentence together in front of a camera

But what do they both have in common
I'm optimistic. Guy is smart. Loves football. Has good relationship with our incoming coach. Let's give it a shot. And let's face it - Kyle Shanahan is calling shots here.

Well, Steve Young is a lawyer.

As long as he can get some good people around him I'm cool with it
