Below is the list of every head coach Lynch played for in the college and the NFL. Pretty impressive.

Dennis Green (Stanford)
Bill Walsh (Stanford)
Sam Wyche (Tampa Bay)
Tony Dungy (Tampa Bay)
Jon Gruden (Tampa Bay)
Mike Shanahan (Denver)
Bill Bellichick (New England)

Wow, very impressive!
That must make him a good coach right?

Would you prefer he be exposed to/have relationships with bad coaches...?
Living in Tampa Bay the last 26 years, I see a lot of Bucs games and John Lynch is an all time favorite. Does that qualify him for a GM job? No, but I am very optimistic.

Everything that Jay Glazer said about Lynch gives me hope. If he can bring in a solid Staff I think this will work.

At least we got a football guy. A lot of work ahead for these men.

Still stunning. Initial reaction: Will need big personnel help. But Kyle Shanahan is ready. Lynch a dogged Elway type. I like this teaming.

This. If he brings in a quality personnel guy, this could wind up being a massive upgrade. That sort of personality and intelligence in the front office could help things out a lot.

Not sure if this was posted already but...

From Jay Glazer

John Lynch is EXACTLY who you'd want turning a place around. Ultimate out-work-the-world type with zero politics to him and has different level of respect from players and coaches.

I like that a lot and if he can get the personnel headed in the right direction we could be sitting pretty

That is good to hear. Keep' em coming, 'cause I'm still shocked.

I kind of look at it as the Elway hire that seemed to work out fine

I'll take it.
Well nobody can ever say Jed York didn't make a bold as s**t move in his football ownership career.

Is he going to pull double duty and take another job he has no expereince with as a d coordinator??

Well, Steve Young is a lawyer.

So he'd be great at doing paperwork, the exact role that Marathe already handles for the 49ers.
Folks were b***hing about the FO hiring "a football guy." Well, we have one now.

What's the problem?
Like John Lynch, but is he ready to be an NFL GM??? I really hope we get Mark Dominik as his right hand man
At least he'll be able to talk to free agents and media unlike that grunt baalke.

Too true. Too true.
He can coach DBs like Baalke did.
They are going to bring in Dominick to run the personnel under Lynch.
I'm sorry but even after a couple hours I still don't like this hiring. I'll obviously give him a chance but this reminds me of when Jim Tomsula was hired as HC: no valid credentials or nearly enough experience to qualify as a HC (no, one meaningless game as interim doesn't count) and everyone besides a select handful knew it was going to fail.

This also reminds me of Matt Millen. The guy had no business being a GM and when he was offered the job, this happened:

When first approached by owner William Clay Ford, Sr. about the job, Millen told him "Mr. Ford, I really appreciate this, but I'm not qualified." Ford responded "You're smart. You'll figure it out."

"You're smart. You'll figure it out." Sounds like something Jed would say
