Brilliant

Lynch really isn't the puppet type. If you think that then you need to read up on the guy. They actually brought a real football guy into the front office and he will be bringing in his own exec to handle personnel.

Can he bring in a new owner too? lol

Yes, he absolutely does! I was just remarking on how well thought out his analysis was during the last week of the season. I'm pumped about this hire!!

Everyone is a puppet when you don't know what you're doing and it's a first time job that you're getting millions for.

We'll see but I can't imagine after interviewing 9 real GM candidates, they walk away thinking, "Now this guy knows what he's doing!" LOL

Another classy Jedy York move...I guess that make paraag the GM

They didn't care when he was hired. Because he was John "MFer" Elway. Coming in to save the day like he did for them as a player. The 49ers hire is more Matt Millen because he is going to a team he has no connection to, while having no experience.

His connection is Shanahan. This could either be a homerun move or it could blow up in their faces. Nothing is ever guaranteed, remember, Scott Pioli? He was a highly regarded GM prospect and turned out to be an a*****e that treated other employees like s**t.

If Lynch can bring in a good personnel guy, I don't see any reason why he can't be successful.

If you wanted Steve Young for GM but are criticizing the Lynch hire........you's a hypocrite.

Well, Steve Young is a lawyer.

Which has what to do with being a GM?

Front office personnel have to know the CBA (legal document), understand contract law, and contracts. Many agents have a legal background. It doesnt qualify him to be GM, but there are several applicable skills, combined with his football experience.

Over the past couple of weeks I have looked at the FO staffing of a number of teams. ALL of them have specialists in analytics, contracts, etc., apart from the GM/personnel side of things.

#49ers ass't GM Tom Gamble capable of running the draft, but 49ers likely to add someone else w/ FO experience. Nothing imminent, I'm told.

Wait so Lynch wont be running the draft?

John Lynch is smart, so the fact that he's this bad of a broadcaster means he's lazy. He's says dumb/wrong things all the time

That's not what he's saying. Plus the VP of college scouting typically "runs" the draft. That means operations -- not decision making.

I havent heard one FA come out and say they want to come to SF and play for Lynch

I'm sorry, has the free agency period started yet?

Thats exactly my point yet i keep reading on here that FA will want to come here now that he is here. Some people are really dense.
So you have no point? We can't quantify the statement of others until Free agency starts and we see who comes.

You just made my point

Maybe they just had a different role in mind? Only time will tell but I do believe Lynch could do a very good job.

Mark Dominik isn't that guy but looks to be the hire.
