And Elway had full personnel control from the very beginning but he leaned heavily on Xanders for the first few years. I expect Lynch to do the same.

On January 5, 2011, Elway was named executive vice president of football operations of the Broncos, with the final say in all football matters.

Marathe with another stroke of genuis

I'm assuming it would take at least 3 full years/seasons to turn this dumpster fire team into a bonafide superbowl contender.

Thanks to Marathe, these 6th year contracts for HC and GM, keeps other teams from easily swooping in and stealing our guys after they start seeing the great initial success in their 4th year here and buy Marathe some time (2 more years) to lock them up for good. Giving these guys a typical 4 year contract would mean that, by the time their contract was up, the team would be hot and many other teams could possibly out bid us for their (Shanahan and Lynch) services.

Ok am I crazy or are you rollin with me on this one?

So with Mark Dominik (ex-GM) and Tom Gamble, how can't Lynch set up a draft again? And can you honestly tell me Lynch doesn't know about scouting players, inquire about trades, trade value, forming a prospect board and value, know how to conduct interviews (when he himself has been in them) or know how to properly structure a roster?

As for contracts, Paraag handles that, I'm sure he and Lynch would work together in negotiations with player contracts or did you think Baalke did that by himself?

Lynch will have a front office team to guide and advise. The main thing Lynch will be is the face of the business/media side of the 49ers not to mention one who will mesh with his head coach Kyle Shanahan.

He's not setting it up. If his jobs is to have everybody do the work, there's know point in making him the trigger man. If Dominik and Gamble are fighting for two different players that Lynch knows 0 about...how does that work out? Coin toss, arm wrestle? If his job is to pick players, right now we can probably say with certainty he is starting at the bottom with previous knowledge.

Yes I doubt he knows the in's and out's at the FO level. You know how I can say that? He's never done it or been a part of it. He has the same qualifications that Deion Sanders has. Actually Deion attends the combine and watches players so he might actually know more.

Boom. The ONLY THING people trying to defend this s**t should be saying is 'we'll have to wait and see'.

Yeah Mark Dominik who has been out of the NFL for 4 years. Brilliant!

Well he's certainly an experienced personnel guy. He wouldn't be focusing on full GM responsibilities, just personnel, might even do a good job.

Why not just go all in and hire Matt Millen. He has experience as well.

Public and media relations, aka the face of the franchise (the business side of it). I also find it funny how you think Lynch can't do this or that because he's never had a front office job. You pretty much disregarded all my post with our post above.

Neither you or I are in position to rightfully judge him on this job which you and I don't really know about in the first place. So like I've said earlier (in another post), get on board or get out, simple as that no sense cry about it. At least let the guy fail or succeed first.
After reading a little more I feel a bit better. I mean he's a smart guy who I hope will establish a good support system. If for no other reason I feel better because he is going to be here if i like it or not. I would rather be optimistic and give the guy a chance than be all doom and gloom the next 4-6 years, here's hoping.

Everybody wanted a real football guy in the front office now we got one and you guys are complaining

What will he do then? He's going to be a stooge? So we got a stooge for 6 years? People can't accept that we've been looking for a GM with no stone left unturned, interviewed all these candidates and we end of with Lynch and people are trying to amake it seem like it's some genius move. This is what Jed learned? Just a bunch of damage control IMO.

Worst to first happens, ya never know... I'll bank on sooner than 3 years. I'm a homer
This hire gives me hope of becoming a GM one day.
