Oh, and updated my post with dead money and cap savings.

Yeah, there are some really odd 53's out there. I can understand differences in the final 5-6 spots for various reasons including special teams and contract considerations but man, there's some odd stuff out there.

Thanks AB.

Well on NinersNation where I posted that as a fanpost this poster says the following aren't locks.

Coyle
Watson
Jones
Mitchell
A.Robinson
Gilliam

And another said DJ Jones isn't a lock. Also Will Redmond isn't.

Or basically they wouldn't keep the above players just cause of money owed, this is a business first, we're not going to end up cutting players we signed in first week of FA, it's wasted cap room, no reasoning for that.

I know we disagree about Coyle and Jones, personally I'd have 10 DBs on the 53 man, with Jerome and Jones making it, and either Johnson or Reaser at CB.
I'd like to throw DJ Jones on a IR special if we can't trade Dial.
Wow, DJ not going to make the 53. Hard to believe that. He is tailor made for us immediately. We need him. I think that report is in error. And AB is right, Teams will be tripping over one another to get him signed.
Lol at trading dial.
Oh yeah. AA isn't a lock either. lol, you guys are basing his security on his draft position and 2016 non contact drills.

I agree with him being a lock. He's taken every single first team rep and nothing but great reports about him thus far... plus working out with Von Miller and Michael Bennett. His ability to play LEO on base downs allows Elvis to stay fresh there on passing downs and then AA can slide over on the interior. Absolutely a lock.

He's not traditional at LEO but he'll be used like Justin Smith. Bull rush on base downs and get 6-8 sacks, help others on stunts, run defend and rotate on the interior to help keep everyone fresh as the coaching staff noted they'd be rotating every 5 downs anyhow.

IMHO, Jones, Mitchell, A.Robinson and Gilliam are absolute locks. Mitchell was their first big FA and starting NT, Jones has the 2-gap ability to take snaps from him, Robindon is Kyle's trusted agent and Gilliam, at worst is a quality swing T and critical insurance. I could possibly see a Dial over Jones scenario so he may not be a full lock so I somewhat understand that one.

Both Johnson and Reaser are locks as both are already competing for a starting outside job and both have also played the slot too...and special teams,,,versatility.

His deal is fully GTD, it'd be a waste of cap room to cut him and not save anything at all. I doubt we'd get anything for him in a trade.

It's stupid to waste cap room because we have it, when if Cousins is a FA we need all the cap room we can get, plus we have FAs and others to extend soon. Would be dumb to waste it by cutting someone who saves 0.
I do want to say, that, this IS a new regime and every year, there is that surprise cut or move. It's inevitable.

I can't even get irritated by you anymore... Cause ive gotten to know you and you do know football.

I can tell youre a hard plaeaser..and youre forever loyal to guys that did win, even if there's no rings to show for it. So, i respect you. But youre high AF if you think AA isnt a lock. Theres a wild dog chance hes traded for someone, but thats about it.

Its too bad Attoachu is still up in the air or Ingram is probably ours.. Might be a blessing in disguise, cause IMO like NY if Lynch comes to play this year, hes just as good as Ingram.

I just got the feeling as i was hypothetically thinking of trade scenarios... AA is seriously gonna do a solid job this year, he still might eventually walking if hes not traded cause we have others around and well probably go in a different direction cause you gotta remember hes already making starter money.

Oh I thought he was just being funny. New coaches are highly unlikely not to give him a year under their supervision.

You're probably right. Hopefully you are right and AA performs at a high level.

I wish someone out there had an extra pass rusher that needed a 5T/3T.

Probably a blessing in disguise again cause we could use the extra help this year to get the run game back in order. We might squeek out just enough of a pass rush this year.

I still wouldn't be shocked if hes traded after a pre-season game if it makes sense for both teams...maybe the other team is desperate for a playoff push and Arik gives them a starter they need and we get a pass rusher/WR/OL/draft pick.

I'm actually excited about the pass rush this year, I think AA will be better, plus we have Dumervil, Thomas, Brooks, Buckner, Watson, I also have high hopes for Blair(He better make it, such a pass rushing beast at App State). I wouldn't mind another Edge, but I like our guys.
