Do you want a new coach?

IMO the 49ers dont really have a HC now, just a glorified OC.

So yes, I believe a change is needed. Especially since Shanny refuses to do anything about Saleh. His player eval really bothers me too, as long as hes in the draft room the 49ers will be passing on better players for scheme fits.

That might work for the patriots, but you cant build a team that way. See all the trash, over paid, system guys the 49ers roster is littered with currently.

Urban Meyer is not going to be the coach of the 49ers anytime soon, probably ever. Any other suggestions?

Here's one thing I saw I didn't catch during the season.

Here, we run a 3 TE set with the strong side to the right. We're going to run a stretch zone run play to the strong side. Note, #40, the weakside backer. He attacks this run really aggressively and prevents a TD.

Notice how not even our fastest O-lineman, Joe Staley, is able to get to him on the 2nd level because he's pursuing so aggressively.

The very next play Kyle comes out in the same formation but flipped to the field side to give the appearance that he's trying to hit that run again to the wide side of the field. DET tries to take this play away by formation and it leaves the ultra aggressive WLB as the lone LB in the middle of the field.

He then uses #40's aggressiveness against him. Shanny then puts Celek in the spot vacated by the WLB. Bam TD.

That's really great that he saw that LB playing that aggressive and was able to nail him on the very next playcall. Most playcallers are 2 or 3 plays down the line as they're calling it, which I'm sure Shanny is at times but he also has the wherewithal to see something like that and immediately take advantage.
It is one thing to be a great designer of plays but even better to be able to quickly see how/when to use them.

How do you know he didn't pre plan using those set of plays when they got in the redzone?

A lot of assumptions being made on what Kyle was thinking or doing by one person saying it was because of how a LB reacted to the play.

It could be as simple as he always planed on using that run to set up that pass no matter how the LB played it.

Ive also mentioned I like Pat Fitzgerald out of Northwestern, he has experience turning teams around like Harbaugh.

I wouldve traded Shanny for Fangio or Flores in a heart beat.

Do you have any idea of the duties and responsibilities of an NFL head coach? So much speculation, masquerading as fact. Webzone warriors trying to explain why they know whats wrong and how to fix it, even if it ain't broke.

And so is calling a 2nd year head coach trash. When you look at how he handled all the injuries and took an UFA QB and made him look pretty good I think calling him trash is way off base. We at least need to see how he does with a roster that stays mostly intact and another draft. Remember this team was really bad when he came in.

When you go 10-22 including 2 losses to the Cardinals this year, you get labeled trash in my book.

Kyle has a bad habit of losing winnable games, we saw that his rookie year too when it took him half a season to win a game. If you like Shanny and want to give him a pass you do you but don't pretend like he's doing a good job. You are your record and numbers don't lie

After going 6-10, and now 4-12 If the team continues regressing he's gotta go.

Great post!

Nothing in bold that can be argued.

You're right about the records except you conveniently left out all the injuries in year 2 which started from day one. They got McKinnon and he had a lot of plans for the offense based on him out of the backfield with Jimmy throwing to him That was gone before it even started. They went thru 4 RB's, # QB's and just about every receiver on the roster. He should get a pass for that 2nd year. That's why I said I want to wait and see what he can do with a full roster. If they still go4-12 then i agree he's probably the wrong guy. My next question would be who would you replace him with? Another unproven college coach or coordinator?

The fact this is your go to and think it's an insult is amusing. Speaks volumes about your maturity level lol
Btw, I never swam for a community college boss
But we can take this to PM as I don't want to further detail this thread

No one feels sorry for us, guys get hurt all the time.

The fact that we fired our strength and conditioning department speaks volumes to this. Part of being a head coach is preparing for injuries, our team isn't prepared at the starter level let alone the 2nd string level. This is all on Kyle & Lynch, not drafting or addressing the edge rusher position over the past two drafts shows a lack of skill.

Who were they suppose to bring in at edge? What are some realistic answers? You can't fabricate a good edge rusher.

It could have been a pre-planned sequence, or it could have been a reaction to what he saw.

Good coaches do sequence plays like that often.

I may have become jaded about that in the HaRoman days. The "sequencing" there seemed random more often than not.

It isn't what you say it is how you say it. Go back and study Rule 1.
Cool

There are certainly some that seem to believe just because you want an ER you can make one appear. It is a repetitive theme.

I wanted an ER last year, almost everyone did. But who, and what would it have taken?

I wanted Carl Nassib... thought he would have provided an upgrade.
When you have experienced the beauty of the WCO well-strategized and executed, it's worth waiting for. Why wouldn't a coach seek players that fit his system, especially the superior system this team has has finally returned to after years of malaise?

KS gets a lot of flex from me. These are birth pangs, and the baby is going to be beautiful--compared to the ugly troll of bygone days.
