You didnt know McVay coached under Shanny and uses his system?? Hence Hoyer having extensive knowledge of the system.

Now that the Patriots have exposed there is no answer for all out pressure expect to see the house brought every game next year.

You don't say? Had no clue he coached under the Shanahans. I guess you are right, the Shanahans offensive system has been exposed. He and McVay need to be fired ASAP, because this system clearly has no future in the nfl. Bummer

McVay runs a more predictable version of Shanahan's offense. The Rams run nearly everything out of 11 personnel with little variation.

The Rams biggest problem is that Goff consistently folds under pressure. He was one of the worst passers in football when he didn't have a clean pocket.

Which brings us back to Hoyer...isn't always incumbent on the QB to make a play in response to all out pressure? He needs to find the open man quickly and get the ball out behind the rush. That is what makes the greats, being the trigger man and exposing defenses that show that lack of respect. Hoyer may have called it right because Goff isn't up to the task when the D brings the house, but he only sees the offense as flawed because he wasn't good enough to execute in the face of that either. You bring the house against Brady, it isn't the line that wins that matchup...it's Tom.

Didnt realize rushing attacks had anything to do with the conversation.

Hoyer points out in the article the language of the offense is the same, thats applys more to the passing game. Obviously because there is more language involved. The fact Shanny and Mcvay lean on different rushing concepts doesnt negate the fact their offense struggles with pressure.

One big difference in our offense vs Rams is we're heavy 21 offense and with Kittle out there there are more options vs all out pressure than the Rams.

Our OL wasn't as good as the Rams but once we get it patched up and playing better with Juice and Kittle out there we're in much better shape than the Rams were. Same thing with Jimmy at QB.

He put up poor numbers this year but it was due to the circumstances and the injuries to Goodwin throwing a big curveball at our WRs before Pettis got a handle on his role.

If we can add a legit WR across from Pettis and get him to take even a half a Kittle like sophomore jump things will be much better.

As well as the Pats played the Rams and Goff specifically chit the bed in a big way. Despite all of Hoyer's intel, Belichick's genius, etc they still had a sure TD to Cooks assuming Goff sees him quicker and gets him the ball a split second earlier before McCourty gets there.

I'm more worried about us taking that next step forward as a roster, not worried about the RAMS getting exposed. Shanahan isn't McVay. I'm thrilled the Pats made him look like a 33 year old. So tired of that hype job...including around these parts.

That's basically what the article said. The defense credited him with the overall domination of the rams offense.

Interesting read, especially this quote..

"Having played in that offense, they don't have an answer for all-out pressure," Hoyer told Breer. "Their answer is for the quarterback to make a play."

This is painfully obvious when watching the 49ers. Beathard and Mullens both get destroyed under pressure and you can see Jimmy G has to improvise.

Looks like Shannys offense has been exposed.

I was running out of quality podcasts to listen to but via SchemeCast, they were talking about how Hoyer, while acting as the scout team QB gave the defensive secondary a tip on their tendencies and how Goff would launch a pass under an all out blitz. It lead to the Pats playing off and watching the QB...for the easy pick.

Another was Hoyer went back to his Amazon Prime account to watch the All or Nothing series on the Rams. Hoyer recognized all the signals, plays, routes and audibles and gave them to Flores. If they say/signal X, they will do Y.

Said they played a lot of 6-7 man boxes (like Alabama) to blow up the OZ runs while playing man to cover (varied coverages). It was so effective it sat Gurley for most of the game (OZ runner) and lead to Anderson running more inside. This is what BB does...takes away your best player and finds your tendencies and exploits your weakness. Anything for an advantage.

Hoyer also saw a Peyton Manning ESPN+ thing on Goff. "The offense is the same." Rams tape confirmed it. Then Hoyer went back to Amazon footage of OTA's.

Studied the Lions tape against the Rams to see how Patricia game planned against them.

That last sentence is music to my ears.

Hmmm, Insider podcast with MM, Locked on 49ers, Rush Podcast, Candlestick Chronicles, Kevin Jones, our own No Huddle, NB49ers, SchemeCast, etc. Those are the most locked into the actual team, team needs, up to the minute news, draft, FA, etc. All good entertainment if nothing else.

Hoyer obviously felt it was similar enough. After thinking about it Flores seemed to build off what worked against ATL in the 2nd half of Super Bowl LI. Shanny didnt have an answer for the pressure then either.

It's also easy to forget that Jimmy ain't Goff. From a football outsiders article about QBs under pressure in 2017. link

"Brian Hoyer was just a stop-gap for the 49ers before Jimmy Garoppolo took over. By the way, Garoppolo's DVOA with pressure was 12.8%, which would have been the highest in our database if he qualified. His DVOA without pressure was 81.4%, which would have ranked third in 2017."
