You didnt know McVay coached under Shanny and uses his system?? Hence Hoyer having extensive knowledge of the system.
Now that the Patriots have exposed there is no answer for all out pressure expect to see the house brought every game next year.
Lol. That's every system. It's called a cover-0 blitz. Because there's ways one less blocker than potential rushers the defense can always have a free rusher. It's up to the QB to get the ball out to his best option vs an all out blitz.
CK threw a fade to Crabtree in the SB, Russel Wilson threw a TD to Balwin against us in the ngccg.
Why dont teams donit to Brady much? Cause he gets the ball out, not because they have some magical way to bring an extra blocker on the field.
There are certain routes that help beat an all out blitz better, like slants, quick outs, pick plays.
What Hoyer is talking about is sight adjust offense or not. The WCO is generally not a sight adjust. Meaning a sight adjust will change the route entirely if there are blitzes. Like some receivers will always run a certain route if there are certain blitzes. Like jason Garrett, sometimes his receivers are given a streak but vs a cover 3 they'll run a deep out.
Shannys is more, if the middle of the field is open they run a post, if closed it's a deep crosser or a skinny post.

Frankly...all out pressure ain't nothin new. I still remember watching Montana's Chiefs beat Buddy Ryan's blitz happy Oilers in the playoffs.
http://articles.latimes.com/1994-01-17/sports/sp-12993_1_touchdown-pass
Buddy Ryan's defense with subtle orders to knock him out of the game, what did not seriously injure Montana only made him stronger.
At halftime, the Chiefs trailed, 10-0. Montana had nine completions in 20 attempts, although Willie Davis dropped a sure touchdown pass, one of several drops by the Chiefs.
Montana had ribs so sore they required two pregame painkiller shots. He had a swollen left hand.
Yet Montana:
--Threw his first touchdown pass less than five minutes into the second half--a seven-yard pass to Keith Cash--while being chased by William Fuller.
--Threw his second touchdown pass--an 11-yard toss to J.J. Birden--with six men in his face.
--Threw the go-ahead touchdown pass with 7:44 remaining in the game by purposely throwing the ball behind Davis, who was blanketed by Cris Dishman. Davis leaned backward and caught the ball behind Dishman for an 18-yard score.
--Watched Marcus Allen run 21 yards for the clinching touchdown with 1:55 remaining after completing a 41-yard pass play on a wobbly fly ball to Cash. Wobbly, because Montana threw it while being knocked on his back.
Said Dishman: "I haven't seen any quarterback throw a pass like him."

That's basically what the article said. The defense credited him with the overall domination of the rams offense.
Interesting read, especially this quote..
"Having played in that offense, they don't have an answer for all-out pressure," Hoyer told Breer. "Their answer is for the quarterback to make a play."
This is painfully obvious when watching the 49ers. Beathard and Mullens both get destroyed under pressure and you can see Jimmy G has to improvise.
Looks like Shannys offense has been exposed.
I was running out of quality podcasts to listen to but via SchemeCast, they were talking about how Hoyer, while acting as the scout team QB gave the defensive secondary a tip on their tendencies and how Goff would launch a pass under an all out blitz. It lead to the Pats playing off and watching the QB...for the easy pick.
Another was Hoyer went back to his Amazon Prime account to watch the All or Nothing series on the Rams. Hoyer recognized all the signals, plays, routes and audibles and gave them to Flores. If they say/signal X, they will do Y.
Said they played a lot of 6-7 man boxes (like Alabama) to blow up the OZ runs while playing man to cover (varied coverages). It was so effective it sat Gurley for most of the game (OZ runner) and lead to Anderson running more inside. This is what BB does...takes away your best player and finds your tendencies and exploits your weakness. Anything for an advantage.
Hoyer also saw a Peyton Manning ESPN+ thing on Goff. "The offense is the same." Rams tape confirmed it. Then Hoyer went back to Amazon footage of OTA's.
Studied the Lions tape against the Rams to see how Patricia game planned against them.
Albert Breer MMQB source.
What are some good Niner podcasts NC?

Hoyer points out in the article the language of the offense is the same, thats applys more to the passing game. Obviously because there is more language involved. The fact Shanny and Mcvay lean on different rushing concepts doesnt negate the fact their offense struggles with pressure.
The difference comes down to the quarterback. Why are some QBs able to function under pressure and some wilt? Are you going to continually blitz Brady and Brees? Hell no. They will light you up.
The Patriots simply weren't afraid of Goff and came right at him, daring him to make throws with pressure in his face. McVay's constant coddling made Goff softer than Quilted Northern and New England took advantage of it. They didn't let McVay make all the reads for Goff by switching up coverage looks. Dude had a near permanent deer in the headlights look.

Could you imagine all the penalties Brady would be crying for if he was this sore and had that many injuries!!! I actually can't remember Brady having this much injuries at all, yet he's the greatest of all time. Save for another thread I know.

So the Shanny WCO is exposed now #BecauseHoyer
Yep, it has nothing to do with McVay's lack of personnel grouping variation or Goff s**tting the bed.....Its the scheme.
