It's gonna be fun hearing him talk about plays. The dude is just an Xs and Os savant. I've been following him real close since his Houston days because I loved that offense and since we weren't running a WCO I went out and found schemes that appealed to me. Can't wait to see this install.....that doesn't mean it's gonna be successful but I'm enthused that we are actually trying to recapture our roots.
Yup. I'm hoping he continues to be descriptive about some of the stuff says. In the presser following day 2 of camp, he broke down how the offense scored a touchdown by motioning to an empty back set and how it caused confusion in the defense for the curl/flat and hook defenders. How the defense now has to communicate better. It was funny because he seemed to be hesitant in starting his answer then seemed to think, "ah I'll just say it", and went full Xs and Os not caring whether the press understood or not (14:00 mark). And after day 1, he mentioned how there were two schools of thought on playcalling - his style (answer for every coverage within one play) versus the Peyton Manning style (find the optimal play against a specific coverage). Interesting stuff.
Just a delight to listen to. Right now he's fresh and energetic. What I'm afraid of is when the Ls start coming, it's the regular season, and he has better stuff to do than give these unnecessary detailed answers.
