The play design is so sexy
I'ts like an inside zone counter
It is. I actually cut this one up from a nearly identical inside zone against the Steelers to show how it was set up but my mic quit working when I was doing the video without me knowing, then I got really busy with work so I haven't had a chance to finish the video yet.....
hey guys, don't worry, my cutup is on the way, lol. It's exporting right now

I think I saw this play in one of Mike Shanahan's playbooks
If it was in Mike Shanahan's playbook, then it probably came from Bill Walsh at some point. Or a variation thereof.
Walsh was a master of getting defenders to vacate the area of where a play was going to happen. "That guy won't be there." And more often than not, that guy wasn't there.

that split flow with the FB is old school IZ, you don't see that much anymore... it's been around since at least the 90s

Is this the point where Shanahan takes the wraps off his QB and opens up the passing game? Or is it too early for that?
I keep thinking about Jimmy G. and that knee. I get nervous!

Altho this is a kyle thread, also kudos to Kyle for going along with JL on Bosa, Dee, Kwon, to go with Buck , Armstead, and our rotational DTs. Then there is the remainder of the Magnificent 7 with Warner, Dre, K'waun, ....and DBs Tarvarius, uncle sherm, Moseley, et al.
That is an incredible makeover from when they first got here 2 yrs and 4 games ago.

Joe Staley was standing next to Kyle Shanahan before Jimmy Garoppolo's 22-yard touchdown to George Kittle. Staley said Shanahan said "touchdown" and walked away before Garoppolo could even receive the snap.

"What a bada**!" Staley said about Shanahan laughing. #49ers
That be like Curry shooting a three and running back on D before it goes in....
It shows extreme confidence in Jimmy G that he'll recognize the coverage and deliver the pass, too.
it's not extreme confidence. it's Jimmy playing QB and seeing things on time the way he's supposed to. recognizing cover 2 or w/e the coverage was that had designed the safetys to split is nothing ground-breaking from him lol

I believe with Juice out for the next 4+ weeks that it maybe time to open up the passing game. My only concern is can these young wr's catch and hold onto the ball consistently?

We see flashes out of Pettis and Deebo. But Not consistency. Not yet anyway.

Exactly! You're right. Atleast he has Kittle as a security blanket.

They'll get there.
