that split flow with the FB is old school IZ, you don't see that much anymore... it's been around since at least the 90s

Is this the point where Shanahan takes the wraps off his QB and opens up the passing game? Or is it too early for that?
I keep thinking about Jimmy G. and that knee. I get nervous!
I believe with Juice out for the next 4+ weeks that it maybe time to open up the passing game. My only concern is can these young wr's catch and hold onto the ball consistently?
We see flashes out of Pettis and Deebo. But Not consistency. Not yet anyway.
They'll get there.
I believe that they'll get there also but it may need to be now rather than later. Because I am willing to bet teams are going to cheat to stop the run from here on out.

im more worried about that than Jimmy G himself. I'm confident in jimmy. our receivers? not so much. only kittle.
Exactly! You're right. Atleast he has Kittle as a security blanket.
a blanket I would love to sleep with.

If I could run the ball every single play and win the game I would, and I think Kyle would too! but that's just not possible in the NFL
The root of Kyle's primary offensive strategy is to establish the outsize zone run, everything comes off of that... if you see Jimmy chucking it 40 plays and routinely dropping back with 5 step and 7 step drops and no PA or quicks then you know we are in trouble that game.
The Breida 83 yarder was an outsize zone look at first, and that's why the defense over reacted and got walled off.

While everyone is salivating at our run game I feel like there's not enough discussion about how to stop or slow down the machine. I'm guessing it has to be a combination of elite defensive scheme, paired with an extremely disciplined defensive unit.
The Patriots are on my mind.

The play design is so sexy
I'ts like an inside zone counter
It is. I actually cut this one up from a nearly identical inside zone against the Steelers to show how it was set up but my mic quit working when I was doing the video without me knowing, then I got really busy with work so I haven't had a chance to finish the video yet.....
I'm so glad you and thl have been highlighting these runs! Thank you.

yo JD, you need to touch up the audio DB levels in post. I always try to get them to at least -6 for YouTube because a lot of people are watching on mobile devices.

The past three games I couldn't help but focus on the run game and the defense. I've seen Kyle's pass play designs. There isn't too much new stuff that I can see compared to the past two seasons, and Jimmy hasn't had a "big time" game yet. The running game and the defense has had multiple big time games.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing here. Like JD alluded to in the HaRoman point, this isn't just power ball...only so many designs you can come up with against 8 in the box and Gore being a between-the-tackles runner.
This is so variant, I'm not sure what front 7 can stop it because if they stop one aspect of it, Kyle could go another direction now.
In short, it's hard for me to envision a scenario where JG is going to have to drop back 40-50 times to give us a shot at winning.

For real. I'm damn near giddy over it. Much appreciated.

The way the 49ers have been covering for that oline is magical. Have to hand it to Shanny, he has 1 arm tied behind his back on offense. If the 49ers get lucky and land some one that is 80% of what Larry Allen could do...they could be Super Bowl bound.
With any luck there is a really athletic LT somewhere in the college game that is undersized and could transition to guard.

Totally agree. But every poison has an antidote, so there has to be a way to stop it. One thing I noticed is how defenses never try and jam or engage the skill players from leaking out, doing so would disrupt the play action and would be one less thing to worry about.
Like all these plays with Kittle faking like he's going to block, they always fall for it. If I was a the opposing DC, I would teach the players to engage Kittle and force his hand to block so he can't leak out and run a route.
