It's starting to become startling the parallels between Kyle's career start and Walsh's start. That magical third season. Can also check how Kyle's pops third season ended in Denver.

They beat Holmgren's Packers in Super Bowl XXXII (one of the more underrated Super Bowls imo, and a top 5 non-49er one for me personally)

Aside from the DAL nemesis, that Packer team had our number as well. Favre would always kill us with those two TEs quick laser seam routes. Chmura and Keith Jackson. That GB team was similar to this SEA team...they would always find some crazy play for the win.
We've come a long way from the Tomsula days. I'm enjoying every second of this!

it's a shame fans on this board in particular couldn't see or comprehend this during our losing seasons. had 0 perspective, 0 patience, all they cried about was how shanny was losing games and McVay was winning games totally ignoring the difference and context with side-by-side roster situations.

Yup. There were a few.

i want to go back and dig up more posts (and posts from me I was right on) lol. you, Niner816, th and JD and a couple others were the patient and smart fans.

Shortsightedness and myopia can be real killers. Too many folks are afflicted with those maladies.
All from October, 2017. Shanahan's 1st year as head coach. 0-6 or 0-7 record at the time

Kyle is fine.

You guys want him on the sideline with a bazooka to take the other team out. or our guys when they mess up.

Nobody expected 0-7, but let's get real, this team was not going to be good this year. That 5 game run was historically wonky, but shows me promise.

There have been bumps and bruises, but a tough start like this will make him better in the long run. If (a big if for sure) they build something and are winning a few years down the road players and other coaches will have respect.

1-15 please

Frankly I'm losing confidence in him to get the job done.

Some of the posters here, well, I have to laugh. You guys are tearing down a new coach and GM in their first season. They inherited a team that was lacking talent in every position group, they were late in hiring coaches due to the HC being in the super bowl, and this season isn't even half over! I am sure that if the legendary coach Bill Walsh had to put up with the digital age and pages like this, that the same guys complaining about the current coach would be voicing the very same complaints about BW.

It is simply much too soon to pass judgement on the direction this new coaching staff is heading. There is so much work to be done and they are setting about the task of doing just that. Certain players were brought in, not because the coaches were expecting big time results, but because they knew the system, the attitude, that the younger players needed to learn. It is clear that there will be more turn over in the roster at the end of this season, as the coaches decide what each player is capable of. Expecting wins this season is futile and it was from the start. Not every move made by the coaches has worked out, but then, nobody is perfect. Mistakes happen. Learning from them is paramount. Walsh inherited a team that went 2-14 the season before he took over. He promptly went out his first season and went 2-14 with that team. The next year they improved all the way to 6-10. Give these guys a chance, instead of running down everything they do that isn't working, look at what might be turning around. That's what the coaching staff is doing, looking at players that are improving vs players that aren't and taking notes. Strengths and weaknesses, improvements and declines. Building a winner from the garbage heap in the NFL isn't done over night. Give them time, they'll need it.

great post. someone who got it back then.

so glad we lost the games we did. not only did it set us up for years to come in the draft, (look where we are now thanks to our high picks), but our team experienced losing. now they've learned to win. because of all those losses they've been through, and now all of a sudden success, it'll keep them humble and validated their belief in Kyle Shanahan.

Lol yes they are trying so hard to be negative about a 0-7 team. How are they even finding anything to be negative about.

yes. i see a team that can barely score and is near the bottom in some many categories but near the top in penalities but yet i get lectured that we are so much better on offense due to our scheme. well it did not work and were told it was cuz hoyer was crap,. so we put in cj whom so many people breathlessly predicted would have these amazing stats and lead us to a win over the cowboys. when that did not work. now its. well he is young and learning. keep moving that goal post boys and good luck in trying to find a place where it will stay in place. kind of like how our worthless dc moves players around hoping something will work
refer to above

He has too much on his plate and is drowning. This will be his downfall.

again, more short sightedness

LOL at some of the over reactions in this and the Lynch thread.

Outside the drama with Bowman,(drama Bow caused), this season is likely going largely as expected for the FO and staff.

They got six years for a reason, and they absolutely gutted the roster right away, which was the right way to approach.

It will take more than one off season to fix this. We are starting more rookies on the regular this season than any other team in the league.

Some of you fans should just take the season off FFS. Your not doing anything good for your health.

We took a step back today, but it was good for this team to get destroyed in the loss for a change. They were getting a false sense of ability. It was good for them to get humbled. Lets see how they react.

Its clear the secondary and OL are playing amateur football, and we have no pass rush to speak of. When that happens, in the NFL, it doesn't matter what skill players you have most of the time. Your going to have a bad day.

Time and money is what it will take to fix this roster. Luckily we have lots of Money. Just have to give the FO and coach the time.

you saw the big picture and were smart enough at the time to not overreact. kudos.

All i know is the margin of losses 3 2 3,3,2, is ridiculous. and i do not see how this is a good thing at all , all it means to me is they should have won games but could not, did not and can not. where is the closing and spare me the whiney refs screw us. this team and these coaches manage to find ways to lose. not exactly the winning culture you are supposed to be constructing.

those years of losing resulted into a winning culture. patience is a virtue. I hope you see that now.

Very much so. Proud of losing.

sure am glad I saw the big picture 2 years ago in not being worried about our losses then. really helped us out with where we are today and the top picks we got as a result.

sorry, these felt validated to do. especially for us fans who had to put up with these nonsensical posts. Shanny and company were given 6-year contracts for a reason. most of us never panicked and trusted the process.

and look where we are now. We all knew we had a real coach despite a losing record. a shame for posters who couldn't see that. The players believed in him, and now they know they can win and everybody's patience paid off. (is paying off)

Yup. There were a few.

"You are what your record is". I hate that saying. It's makes things so simplified. Some fans were using that saying to support their argument that Kyle is a bad coach when he was trying to rebuild a crap roster.

George Seifert had a 14-2 season and a 1-15 season. Did he suddenly forget how to coach in his 1-15 season? There's so much that goes into the outcome of a coach's performance. The player talent is now matching the coaching talent and Shanahan is now able to show the NFL what he is.

This analysis was dope, man. And not in the cool, urban vernacular slang way.

Looks like a team that prepared for 10 days to make sure to score on that first drive.

For sure. Saleh said Kyle calmed everyone down on the headset and basically said "fix this". I'll see if I can spot what was changed schematically.

Seemed to me like the Rams 1st drive, our defense getting all psyched on the run misdirections. Kyle is like--we ran all of that on the offense the last 4 weeks, WTF are you biting on the cheese.

And then it's suddenly lights out for the D at 4th&goal
