49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

And then it's suddenly lights out for the D at 4th&goal

Ya our defense was too fired up and sometimes that much adrenalin can hurt. They were amazing.

And, we need to learn what Acorn head did to adjust and stop it.

Looks like a team that prepared for 10 days to make sure to score on that first drive.

We were just rope-a-doping them. Make their offense feel like the defending NFC champions on the first drive and then dish out a soul draining loss.

For sure. Saleh said Kyle calmed everyone down on the headset and basically said "fix this". I'll see if I can spot what was changed schematically.

id love to hear or read that quote from saleh. I guess the guys just weren't as awake like the rams? or was it 100% out-scheming the first drive

49ers have scored a TD on every single first offensive possession of the 2nd half this season, a testament to their halftime adjustments. In this Rams game, they scored a TD after recovering a fumble so they had a very short field to work with. So technically that was their first offensive possession of the 2nd half and this stat is intact (scoring a TD on the first 2nd half possession)

But if you look at the first "real" drive of the 2nd half, it started near midfield. They drove down the field and it ended in the dropped pass by Coleman in the endzone. So that could have easily been a TD. Kyle's halftime adjustments are legit.

Dee Ford hinted they were not maintaining gap responsibility on that first drive.

"You are what your record is". I hate that saying. It's makes things so simplified. Some fans were using that saying to support their argument that Kyle is a bad coach when he was trying to rebuild a crap roster.

George Seifert had a 14-2 season and a 1-15 season. Did he suddenly forget how to coach in his 1-15 season? There's so much that goes into the outcome of a coach's performance. The player talent is now matching the coaching talent and Shanahan is now able to show the NFL what he is.

Then would you remind people that Walsh went 2-14 his first year its was the constant "lulz.....you're saying he's Walsh". I said it then and I'll say it again....If you couldn't recognize how good his scheme was and project what it would look like with a talented roster that's a "you problem".

When you give Kyle Shanahan, the best offensive caller, a historically good defense, the team is going to be among the favorite to win the Superbowl.

And this offense ain't the 2000 Ravens, 2014 Seahawks, 2016 Broncos (last year of Peyton Manning, which he struggled). This offense can move the football and score points. They don't need to rely on the defense to win. This is scary for the rest of the NFL.
All double digit wins except the game in which the team turn the ball over 5 times.

One word for kyle's Playcalling and fixing of the O and D....masterful. Fricking masterful.
Over the last two years I've noticed that our offense heats up when other teams are slowing down in the early winter. That backend schedule is going to come around when our offense becomes a complete machine. I think by December we're gonna be destroying teams ala the "winter" Patriots by high scores on the road.

Imagine when all those late game drops become touchdowns...

That's what it takes to be the best. That's why Kyle always talks about how hard it is to win in the NFL and not letting up.

BW wrote it in his book, "Finding the winning edge". Never being satisfied. There's no perfect but you dont stop until you get there.

Walsh was never satisfied with the teams performance in any game he ever coached, including the SB wins.

Walsh.....you strive for perfection knowing it's not attainable but in doing so you capture excellence.
