49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

kyle was already scheming against the cardinals half way into the 3rd quarter of the panthers game.
damn it feels good to finally have a coach who can actually coach and not just motivate

Not discounting Kyle at all, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mike is reviewing some film himself and giving out some pointers, more than a few in fact.

It's gotta be a great asset to have one of the greatest playcallers in league history as your pop.

Steve Young said Kyle is a Mike Shanahan who knows how to use technology to maximize his effectiveness. He said Mike Shanahan didn't even know how to send a text message.
Mike Shanahan was a great OC for the niners.
I always think about what could have been if Shanahan was the HC and not Seifert. Same for Holgrem.
That´s why having Kyle as the HC is great. Nobody will poach him just like the niners did to the Falcons.
When you have that kind of offensive mastermind in your team, you better make him your head coach or having a bigger genius above him like in New England with Belichick and McDaniels.

You know what's so understated about Kyle is we all know offensively he's a genius, but he's aware of the importance of the defense. Sean Payton and Andy Reid struggle for the most part building a defense that's competent(saints only recently built a defense) Kyle knew from the start he wanted to build a competent defense. Bill Walsh was the same way that's why he went after Fred Dean, not trying to compare him but the fact Kyle also has that awareness speaks volumes about him and maybe he learned that his last year with Atlanta but him valuing defense puts him a step ahead

In Sean Payton "defense", he had to deal with the bounties reprepercussions.
He deserved it but it tooked back his team for a while on the defensive side of the field.
Shanahan always valued talent in defense.
I ´m pretty sure he pushed for the Texans to draft Mario Williams and not Reggie Bush.
this dude is scary good.

How one decision led to vastly different paths for two franchises.

49ers are undefeated while Denver has moved on to another coach and Vance is in Arizona running a mediocre defense, looking like he's well on his way to going back to being a secondary coach again.

Also the comments on that article are absolutely priceless.

Maybe Kyle Shanahan will become the Broncos OC after a couple years when McCoy moves on to be a HC somewhere and Kyle gets booted out as a HC somewhere and needs a new start
then Kyle learns how to be a "leader of men" from VJ

After reading about the differences between the WCO playbook/calls
And what McCoy is likely to implement, I'm glad Elwasy didn't hire Shanny Jr.

F the Zone Blocking system.
No one is playing it in college. Why force it in the pros?
Rule changes have made it outdated

McCoy's tailored KISS Offense will be better for our young QBs
Who knows who's offense would be implemented by Kyle – his or his coordinator's? Kyle wasn't being hired to run the offense as he does now, he was being hired to lead players and coaches. As for Elway – a great staff has come together as the Gunslinger blows the smoke from the barrel of his hot 45…

That is so funny, those comments mirror what has been going on in this thread for years, not so much now!
Ah, my lovely weekly ritual of eating crow continues for the 7th straight time.

What can I say. I have respect and admiration for how the coaches have set up the team technically and psychologically. The resilience every time something bad happens (injuries, turnovers, the opponents doing something explosive) is remarkable. The players are of course the ones who make this happen on the field, and I give them all the credit in the world. But it must be said that management is also to be praised every time a substitute comes in and kicks arse, or when the scheme is adjusted quickly whenever it's necessary. This week we did not have to respond with adjustments in the second half, since the first half was almost perfect - but it's also been a feature of this year.

I am delighted to have been proven wrong. I haven't had this much fun being wrong since 2011. Hopefully the team is already performing the necessary voodoo rituals to exorcise the spirit of Kyle Williams ()

I don't want to sidetrack the discussion with another Seifert Apperication retort. But it really upsets me to see him never get the props he deserves - from running the D under Walsh, to keeping superstar egos focused on the job in hand (yes, I know, Haley - but he also managed all the '94 mercenaries beautifully, even when we temporarily hit a patch of poor form early on). He get s**t for losing to NY, Dallas and GB in the playoffs, even though these teams were also historically good (not to mention that we were robbed in 1992 and brutally unlucky in 1990). He's also a real fan of the team.

There's no guarantee that either Holmgren or Shanahan would have navigated the Dallas obstacle in the early 90s better than Seifert did. In fact, I daresay that Seifert's defensive focus helped address the area where we were comparatively weaker until '94. The offense was stacked and put up great numbers even in lacklustre years.

Poor George. Nobody loves him.

Sorry. Diversion over. Back to the current Shanahan. Well done that man!
