49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

and what blows me a way is that I know that what Kyle showed yesterday is just setting up other yet to be seen plays/offense in future games
Kyles a decent coach. It's not like he's a world beater or anything.

The fact that Kyle is running more than he is passing for the first time in a long time shows that he is growing as a coach. Also, last 4-5 games much lower penalties.

The game plan on the first drive reminded me a lot of the AZ home game last year where beathard through those short screens the entire first drive. I felt like they didn't use it much more the rest of the game. Yesterday they did a good amount for the first 3-4 drives and then did other impressive calls like that Deebo td.

Kyle continues to grow as a coach and we should be very happy with this staff!!!!

THIS is Shanny's offense! THIS is an offense that can play with anyone at any point in the yr.

Currently has a pass/rush ratio of 42.5/57.5. Only time Kyle ran it more than he threw it as a playcaller was '12. Offense scored over 430 points, gained over 6100 total and rushed for over 2700 yards.

Current paces this year:

470+ points
6200+ yards
Almost 2900 rush yards.

That play was football poetry.

What made it so impressive is how all the moving parts just meshed on that play. Sanders in motion, ball snapped, Deebo fills in behind and all the linemen block perfectly. It looked like the inside of a Rolex watch.

I have commented much the same....there have been a couple plays this year that would make synchronized swimmer green with envy. It is wild to see, its almost like they are playing against air.

Like the #1 seeding, COTY may come down to who wins the SF/NO game in December.

Oh, no one uses a FB regularly? Let's do that.
Oh it's a passing league? Let's not do that.

Soooooooo this!

Funny how we all were watching and he just slowly changed what we do...and the realization that we shifted to runs> passes just kind of occurred. I don't recall anyone stating specifically that , "Hey , Kyle's turned us into a running team when the sports news is that EVERYONE has now become a passing team. And "Oh , look, Mahommes just passed for 50 TDs and 5000 as a rook! Wow"

What is key tho, is that yes this is an offense based on running and oh, dear our QB has thrown the least # of passes in the NFL...but when you look at 3rd down conversions, jimmyG is right there with 50% ...it was right at that before Panther game and he only threw 4 incompletions in 22 tries....i think at one point he was 4/7 on 3rd down. So still passing enough for approx 200 yds but more than 50% 3rd down completions.

Mostly going into 4th qtr we were 50/50 on runs/passes and then in 4th , he just ran the ball to try and end the game before anyone else got hurt. And then at that point we grossly go runs.

So the question is, are we statistically about 50/50 on pass/run but we get up on our opponents and finish the game running the ball...is THAT the reason we have more runs? Because going into 4th qtr against panthers we were pretty much even - Steven on pass/ runs. You think this is why we appear to be running more? Just because we get up on opponents and then run most of the 4th?
Rivera (kinda) knew what was coming and his team - with two weeks - had no answers.

That Deebo TD Run was some X's and O's porn....how much you wanna bet there's a couple pass plays off of that look and we could already see there was an option pick component to it.

My jaw dropped on that run. One of the most impressive runs Ive ever seen. Carolina had no chance. None. And it was executed to perfection.

That play was football poetry.

You realize we had runs of 40 yds, 40 yds, 20 yds, 20 yds, and 10 yds and 3 or 4 of those were TDs?

On those runs there were some massive holes where there wasn't a defender around for 10 yds, and then Coleman or Brieda/Wilson just kept their distance...wth some nice moves but the point was, kyle had schemed MASSIVE holes where there were just no defenders there. Same for a number of pass plays.

Also it was pretty darn shrewd throwing a bullet to Sanders standing on the goal line in a crowd, but ball was on a rope and low....in our first O series. After that, Riverboat Ron had to watch and defend Sanders ....and then sometime later , Kittle caught one in the middle of the field and there were no defenders near him for 10 yards. He has NEVER been that open before.

I think kyle had the Carolina D so confused they had no idea what was coming or who they should be defending. Remarkable play calling/scheming. Coach Walsh would be proud.

That bullet to Sanders wasn't as risky at it looked. If you see the play, Kittle runs up to the defender that is supposed to come down to breakup or intercept the out route. Well, Kittle runs up to him and does his best curl route that also shields the defender from making a break on the throw. All Sanders has to do is out run his own man to the ball. Looks risky, but very well-designed and the key of the play was Kittle screening off the break-on-ball defender.

If there was any bad execution about that play, it was that Sanders should have flattened his route out more. He sort of ran a little more upfield than needed.

Thanks Joe, I only saw the play and a quick repeat...but no other. I knew Kittle was there but was uncertain as to why. Now i know. That was some slick pick, then, and as you say, had Sanders flattened out his route there wouldn't have been a gaggle of guys in one spot. Still a great throw on the money by JG....and sanders followed it all the way into his breadbasket. Terrific play.

I can't see any replay other than real time, because i realized when kyle first came on here in 2017, that every game i taped, we LOST. I followed and picked apart all the losses, but didn't tape the CJ win, nor any of JGs 5 Ws. And we won them all.

Last yr, i taped one of the early games we lost, remembered about my bad luck last yr, and after an early string of losses , quit taping again and damned if we didnt win when i did not tape.. So obviously no taping this yr , as much as i want to . But i swear, if i tape,...we lose.

And i am just not going to challenge fate. I know what happens if i tape a game. That sucks, no? But at least i realized it. Last yr i got all 12 of our losses on tape. But no Ws. I'd much rather watch us win and forget about wanting to see a game replayed. I can watch a tape delay on NFL N, and that has had no effect on our Ws.

But i guarantee a L if i tape a game.
