Ugh, below average game by Shanahan regardless.
On offense? ABSOLUTELY.
He has the last say on offensive personnel.
No, you can't blame him for the drops, or the injuries, or the play of the starting tackles. But you can blame him for his team not being prepared to block Clowney, and all of the execution issues including JG holing on to the ball too long. Wilson used the quick passing game to help his horrible O-line, while JG hurt his O-line by holding on to the ball. Was Shanahan not using the quick passing game enough, who knows?

While we're at it, we a need a pullback guy for Saleh too.
Poor clock management was always an issue with JH, especially wasting timeouts.Originally posted by NCommand:Originally posted by SkyZer0:Originally posted by Young2Rice:Originally posted by susweel:Poor game plan and clock management in ot by shanny.

Same offense as last night. Can't run against 9 and one dimensional. Yay.

When sanders arrived it shouted loud & clear how good this team can be w/quality WR.
We don't have that. Deebo has the potential to reach that level and Hurd is an untested guy at this point.
IMO, based on how this season turns out, we'll need to take a serious look at saying good bye to Goodwyn and Bourne.
And either pay a top tier FA and/or draft he best we can.
Pettis is very inexpensive but at best inconsistent. One more year to prove it.
IMHO, Sanders is a stop-gap, over 30 WR with a significant injury history. This team needs a young, proven, durable WR. Since we have trouble drafting those, we're going to have to find one via FA. That means we might need to get creative with cap space.

I'm with Shanny. f**k going for the tie. That's f**king your own sister. He called the pass plays late in overtime. It was there. Then it was dropped.
Yea I'm totally lost on this playing for the tie s**t. What type of message does that send to your team after being 8-0.

I think most of us were ok with that sequence even though we only burned not even 30 seconds off the clock. It was the sequence that led to the McLaughlin shank we had an issue with, even though the spot screwed us, but I think that was one situation where Shanahan really needed to go for it on 4th down rather than put a mercenary rookie in for the longest try of his day.

Shanny needs to accept the fact that Jimmy ain't SPECIAL yet, and it's not going to help if Shanny keeps giving him WRs that aren't legit in this league.
Wilson showed us last night how special he is, and can you imagine how much more damage he can do once Metcalf and Gordon gets comfy w/their offense.
I think this is what's starting to pan out as the current picture. Jimmy is young and there's a lot of room for growth. He just needs to play. He'll learn. Hopefully.
