49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Shanny needs to learn to get in the leagues ear about scheduling like Harbaugh used to. This year we have five games with less time to prepare than the opponent:

vs. Rams (after our Mon. night game vs Browns)
vs. Panthers (after Panthers bye)
vs. Cardinals (after Mon. night gave vs Seattle)
vs. Packers (after Packers bye)
vs. Saints (Saints long week to prepare after Thanksgiving game)

Games we had more time to prepare:

vs. Browns (after our bye)
vs. Seattle (we had Thurs gave vs Cardinals)
vs. Ravens (Ravens Mon night game)

I realize we had success on the short weeks and our one loss was on a long week (no Kittle was the difference there), but there needs to be a little more balance.

AKA the Kyle Shanahan-effect.

This, with the most prominent player on the field that DC's game plan to try and stop.

Ref about throw the flag for offensive pass interference on Kittle but couldn't find a Packer defender close by

Is this worse than the league average? I don't know if there are any numbers on that.
Kyle needs to step up his coaching game so we stop pretending so much.
A lot is riding on our backs getting past that big D line.

Their Dline is overrated it's their DB's that scare me.

Wow that is just crazy in the NFL for the top target on your team to get that wide open

Just wish they would have shown Kittle's great route 2–3 frames before, an IN. OUT....IN move that left the defender still running toward the sidelines on his 2nd of three fakes. Outstanding. Also wish they would have shown, how kyle moved JimmyG way to the left and how there was NOBODY around him either. Probably the most incredible footage ever....textbook Shanahan.

I want to see where he is at as a coach in 10 years. At 39, Bill Walsh was coaching WRs with the Bengals, Belichick was starting his first HC job with Cleveland, Mike Shanahan has back as OC with Denver after being fired by Oakland and Mike Holmgren was a quarterbacks coach for the 49ers.
He keeps getting better every year. Last year I don't know if we had any undrafted free agent defense players (I think we had a DB or two) but no LB's or DLinemen that were undrafted, now we got Azeez (so far he looked really good) and Demontre Moore and Valaoga. I can see him doing something like Bellicheat but on the offense. I.e. being able to play a systemless offense (an offense that can play any style of offense) - just like Bellicheats defense can pretty much play any defensive scheme he thinks up.

I can't wait to see him develop somebody like a Steve Young 2.0.

What do you mean by that? Contenders and Pretenders are created only one way and that's with the media. Think about it the only reason why the Patriots aren't pretenders who have the exact same record as the 9ers is because Belichick and Brady have been there before and back. Give Shanahan and Jimmy G. one or two more winning seasons and the word Pretender won't even be a thought.

It's not that he gets better by the year, but I'm sure he does improve or tweak his playbook every year. It's the players fully grapsing his playbook after each year and it becoming more natural and muscle memory where they don't think, but just react. Look how much Jimmy G has improved as the season goes on. Imagine how much better he will be next year.

I think he's being sarcastic... just from reading the majority of his posts. But you never know?

Head Coach at only 37, and 10-1 at 39. Like a previous poster said, Bill Walsh didn't get his Head Coaching job till he was 47 or so. Jimmy and Kyle will only get better together.
Kyle will try and attack the LBs and S positions. We have a matchup advantage there. There CBs are very good and the DL is also good. Can we get to those matchups is the question. I'm worried about our OL in this game. Can they generate some decent running lanes for the backs??? How will the weather effect the matchups??? Idk. If it's on Jimmy to keep up with Lamar and the weather is bad could be a long day for our QB and OL.
If Ravens lose to the Niners, it would be because of the rain. Niners just happened to be on the field.
2017-18 Kyle Shanahan:
10 wins
22 losses

Non-December récord: 3-19
December record: 7-3

This team is different, Kyle is different, once we flip that calendar to the 12th month.

Don't count us out!!
