So if we ran it on 4th and 1 and don't get the first down, what exactly are you guys blaming the loss on then?

No guarantees a run play works there. Baltimore just made a good defensive play there, simple as that.

If you run it and don't get the first, then the true blame goes back to this first half lack of urgency and Gould missing the field goal.

1st of all, if you're going to call a pass play on 4th down, make it quick.. instead of a SLOW developing play..

then, IF, and if you want to run the ball on 4th down, STAY OUT of that Shot Gun formation... Mostert was having a great day and had we run a Wide Cut Back running play, then it would have been an EZ 1st down...

The problem is, Shanny's too cute with his play calling... the weather was bad, why take chances on cute plays just the way he called the TE Jet Sweep.. How stupid can the timing of that play call be??

another problem I saw here was, we didn't call one single SCREEN play when we could have the way their D was rushing the passer while the DBs were just sittin around... our ALL WORLD OVER PRICED FB was not even used at all...

The 49ers wont make the playoffs at this point.
Hate now, listen later.... when push comes to shove, I would take KS over JG, then add a great QB, and pray he makes up for the awfulness of the KS play calls when it really matters.

Unless you think the Rams win out all the team has to do is beat Atlanta and they will.

We hated before and never had to listen later nnecause you were wrong. Just analyze what has happened instead of making preductions because you'd be drafting #3 overall next season if you had a WL record.

B. I am perfectly fine with how Kyle ran out the clock in the second half, and how he ran the offense in general. The MVP is sitting there on the other sideline and we want to do everything we can to keep the ball out of his hands.

I mean hey,...fine,...you can like it. Just please acknowledge the fact that bleeding the clock on THAT drive costed us at least 3 points,....wasting 2 timeouts essentially left to dry with a 1st down and only time for a prayer of a long field goal.

It was COSTLY. Especially then then when we were almost in scoring range,....and again as the 4th closed out.

You liking something and something definitely costing us are 2 completely different concepts.
Proud of our defense for showing there's no need to be as scared of Lamar as perhaps you and Kyle are. PLAY YOUR GAME.

The time wasn't the issue. We actually attempted the field goal on 4th down (4th and 1). So, from that stand point, the timing was practically perfect.

The problem was not trying to get closer than a 51-yard FG attempt. Gould is now 0 for 4 on 50+ yarders and it was raining hard. THAT was the stupid decision.

I knew Cohn was full of it with his 'positive' tweets as the team was winning.

Kyle not making high percentage calls is costing the team games.

We've lost 2 games outta 12 and blown out a bunch of teams. Seems like his playcalling has been more good than bad.

I agree, BUT these close games force emotional errors.

If Kyle comes back and says he should have done something different, like with the Seahawks game, then the pressure likely tilted him.

It's a poker game at times and only experience will fix it.

Bill Walsh had some ugly playoff losses. No one is perfect.

The 4th down call *WAS* a high percentage call. Easy pitch and catch to Kittle, the surest hands on the team. Took a great play by the DL to bat it down and prevent the conversion. Still a good call against a stacked box.
This is an 8-8 coach, we're going 8-8, 49erswebzone fans with post counts under 2,000 are gonna petition the NFL to take wins away so we can get a higher draft pick.

THE SEASON IS OVER. Let's all blow our brains out.
Coach has to live and learn. Get a tad bit better at situational game management

Kyle said the defensive alignment called for a pass play so a run play would not have been a high percentage call.
