Fire Shannahan, he's in over his head! Oh wait, neverminded that was two weeks ago.
He's pretty cool. We should keep him.

Am I the only one interested in which unknown RB Shanahan will add to the PS this week? It's clear that Hasty is going to get the majority of the touches against Seattle. Which is a good thing since Hasty seems to remind everyone of the RB who used to give us fits, Marshawn Lynch. Time for a little payback.
But, if there is one drawback to the type of back that Shanahan prefers, it's this: The Shelf Life. In other words, the prototype Shanahan RB is anything but a Timex watch, which takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Our RB's get banged up pretty quickly with ankles, feet, knee, thigh and various other injuries. They are good for one or two games and POOF, the next stop is the IR list.
Although there are some who suggest we should go after Gore, he doesn't fit the system. Gore is a plodder. He's not that quick as a flash back that's in the hole and out the other side in a flash. Shanahan RB's thrive on moving so quickly that they don't get hit, until they are ten or more yards downfield. Gore would last longer than the prototypical Shanahan RB. I'll give you that much. But he still doesn't fit the system, which relies upon quickness, burst and speed.
At any rate, I haven't checked the PS list lately. Perhaps that back is already there. Maybe Shanahan will convert Pettis into an RB. I don't know. I just want to know who the "next man up" is going to be. Because, with our luck this year, next man up will probably be starting by the 9th or 10th game of the season.

Ah, nevermind, I see the next man up is a gentleman by the name of Austin Walter. Remember that name. From his stats, it appears he is the prototypical Shanahan RB. 5'8, 202 pounds. Quick as a flash. Remember that name. Austin Walter. He may get a start or three before Mostert and the other injured backs return from IR, providing Hasty or the Jet go down.

Let him start trying a few tougher passes and let's see if he and his receivers can develop a working chemistry. You can't keep going week to week just hoping something happens. Kyle needs to help him make it happen.
I heard an interview last week with Jimmy Johnson. He's not my favorite coach but you can't argue with the success he had at every level. He says he doesn't like having the HC be the OC or DC. His philosophy is that the HC needs to step back from all the details that the OC and DC address so he can see the bigger picture. He said, OCs ust want tl score and DCs just want to attack. He said that sometimes you need to dial it up or down depending on the game situation and it's hard for the coordinators to see that. I can see the value in that, especially with a young 1st time HC. Kyle loves the play calling but he's so involved with it that he can't focus on the overall game. Maybe it's one of the reasons we see little or no adjustments from the O or the D in the 2nd half. I don't know if he could find an OC that he thinks could handle the job butit might really benefit him in the long run. Belichick is to defense what Kyle is to offense but he had a DC up until last year.
Bill Walsh called his own plays. We saw all kinds of philosophies work. There is no single "way". However, I'm perfectly fine in Kyle surrendering play calling if and only if someone on the staff can do it better than he can. Considering he is the best play caller in the game, why would we want him to do this now? Our OC is the least of our worries.
Calling plays has worked out just fine for coaches like Reid and Sean Payton. If you're among the very best at playcalling, then you stick with it. You don't hire someone like Kyle Shanahan just to have him hire a lesser mind to run the offense. You have a HC and an OC built in, you have a system that you're going to stick with long term.

The perfect storm for me would be trade for Matt Ryan then trade Garoppolo back to the Patriots and draft a guy that can develop under Ryan for a couple of years. Ryan has a potential out in 2022 and can redo his deal to help the 49ers cap for a couple of years. Ideas?

IMHO I don't think it matters. I think Jimmy is gone. After that first pick Kyle was pissed, and when they briefly showed it Kyle was just done chewing him out and when Jimmy began to talk.. Kyle was like fk it I'm out and walked away.
Noticed how we very rarely even throw the ball downfield?
I mean on the deep ball to Aiyuk.. if he leads him properly it's an easy TD . Instead he leads him towards the sideline.
I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't be shocked if he's gone. No matter what he does.

man, I hope Kyle dials up some passing plays for Garoppolo this week. If you can't at least stat pad against this s**tty Seattle defense, then what is the point? Even Cam Newton looked good against Seattle

It's not all on Jimmy. Our line isn't built to pass protect for deep passes, especially not with our 3rd string center playing.

Carlos Dunlop anybody??? Had 9 sacks 63 tackles last season
Demoted to third string on the bengals and put his house up for sale after getting in a shouting match with the bengals defensive line coach on the sideline vs the browns.

Sounds like a Competitor who wants to play. If we can afford him, next to getting Kerrigan, would be our best trade option.
A player with something to still prove is good to have.
