49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

So can we talk about how:

1. Shanahan can't win without Garoppolo (not saying Garoppolo is more than what he is, but this team absolutely flounders without him 99% of the time)
2. Shanahan seemingly has a rigid, uncompromising system, matched with an unchallenged, unchecked, competitive ego, which results in him seemingly breaking his QBs down rather than lifting them up.

He's been here four years. Last year was spectacular but he didn't deliver. All the other years, abysmal.

A true head coach doesn't need everything to be perfect, to be excellent. Last year, they had a top ten QB, a solid o-line, an amazing defense, rookie of the year pass rusher, a top LB corps.

I'm sorry, but I think he's an amazing offensive mind and coordinator but a guy who needs a head coach, and a QB who will actually groom his QBs vs giving them the Stanley Kubrick treatment of completely dominating them mentally in the hopes of molding them just as he sees fit.

Lest we forget Pettis, Joe Williams, Beathard, Hurd....another strong-willed head coach or counterpart would balance this s**t out.

He's smart and talented...but he's a big problem at the same time.
Oh and it's a lost game, in a lost season, and he's calling conservative plays as if the team is 8-2 and holding onto a 14 point lead....

why?

let it rip. it's basically preseason.

How much of this is shanahan and how much of it is garoppolo. I haven't seen a QB succeed with him or actually like playing for him except for Cousins (Ryan did but he's always been talented and seemed glad he left).

Maybe him and Kirk have a romantic thing going on?

Dudes, Mahomes is a QB that will go to the HOF as one of the best ever and is a once in a generation talent. With Mahomes we would be contenders every freaking year for the next 15 years with or without a good defense.

With Bosa we still need a good QB to be contenders.

I love Bosa but having a QB like Mahomes is way more important than having a pass-rusher.

people are crazy.

Also something else that people don't take into account. With a star quarterback, refs will give you all the calls and let your OL get away with holding so your QB can have highlight plays.

Elite pass rushers are important, but they can easily be nullified if the refs swallow the whistle and lets the opposing team hold you
I'm just curious when the mental gymnastics to protect Kyle ends. He seems free of all blame for the teams struggles.

Criticism will start later this year and become s roar if they are not winning games in '21.

The Harbaugh comparisons are coming as well this offseason.

Tomsula won 5 games and the talent is pretty equal.

You just saw what happens when he lets it rip. Bill belicheat is no genius either without a qb

When he has a full year with no injuries, and still gets less than 8 wins, thats when even the blinders will come off. But unfortunately with this team's luck, they get injured almost every other year. Evaluation is kind of difficult to make as far as wins, but I still criticize them for bad trades and extensions.

Also, Kyle needs to put his balls on the table and just draft a quarterback in the 1st round. Then we will see if he is a QB guru or not
We know he didn't have the YAC brothers tonight but it seems like Kyle is itching to throw the ball downfield.

Then he should stop drafting midgets.

if kyle is actually itching to throw deep, then I do not understand why these midgets like Trent Taylor keep getting reps in practice

prolly cuz we were down the whole game
No more playing favorites or only drafting a single type.

Bad luck or bad draft picks? They've had plenty of misses and bad FA signings overall.
