If he passes on him, I'll literally blow a gasket lol. QB is our greatest need now, imo.

I mean, cmon. No one knew how good of NFL players they would become.

Everyone could see Watson was a baller.

Since when has a BYU QB ever done wonders for the 49ers?

We weren't shopping for a QB though.

He should have been...
It was literally the biggest need on the team and 3t wasn't top 5.

In hindsight you're right but at the time the entire team was a mess. No arguments over what a terrible pick Solomon was though. Never liked the pick.

Kyle did admit later that perhaps he should have dove deeper into that QB class but clearly, John wanted to build up the defense first and Kyle had his QB earmarked already.

Now, do they learn from their mistakes?

Kyle is very good, but there's as much to question as there is to praise. He's honestly no Walsh when eying talent for his offense, which is a head scratcher.
If we move on from Jimmy G, I could see Kyle doing something stupid like getting Kirk Cousins instead of getting a QB in the first round of the draft.

That's financially impossible, same with Matt Ryan.

Agree, most likely scenario is sign a cheaper QB and draft another one hopefully in the first round
Obviously just a guess. But I think we keep jimmy g (maybe restructured) but draft some competition for him next year.

QB was definitely a need but I see why he passed on them because the system they ran in college. But he needs to change on how he evaluates qbs because all of them well most run a spread offense and they can succeed because we're seeing it year after year in the NFL.

IT WAS more like Watson and Mahomes would have been easy to develop so he convinced that CJ (in the 3rd) would be as good as those two when CJ learns his offense.

Maybe he should have had a plan?

He did have a plan (Cousins as free agent). That you don't like that plan doesn't negate it existing.

He allegedly had that plan and abandoned it. It is irrelevant.

He abandoned it because Jimmy Garoppolo became available, they took a chance on him, and he balled out.

Of course it's relevant, because it disproves your broken record b******t about not having a plan pre-JG trade.

Truth but still glad we didn't get cousins
I don't care if he did or didn't have a plan. The fact that his plan was cousins scares s**t out of me

I'm glad they didn't get Cousins then and I'm glad they can't afford his insane contract now. Cousins knock was he can't win when it counts. Cousins has 1 good game in the playoffs and finally wins a playoff game last year and Terry Bradshaw and most media act like the 68 prior games were a fluke and Cousins doesn't really suck. I'm not on that train and I think Cousins still sucks.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. He didn't. Get over it.

The point was that Jimmy, CJ and Kirk are his types over Watson or Mahomes types.

this is the problem when a player or a coach believes in what they hear too soon too much... just like VERNON and KAEP did... I'm sure Shanny's heard it over and over how he is the BEST young HC in the NFL that leads to his belief that he can insert any player at any position and WILL win...

and when that idea doesn't happen, it's because the player did not do what was told of him..
