The failure is on shanahan, we all saw how terrible mullens and beatherd were before jimmy came aboard. 2 years later they still have the same backup qbs and now there really screwed. the saints last year had bridgewater as a backup, now they have winston. this team was not prepared for jimmy to be hurt again.

What's Lynch's role in all of this?
He seems to get all the adulation if things are looking rosy. But now it's all Shanahan's fault because the team has a defective roster.

Not much. He has stacked this roster. He can't really do much about injuries.

I agree on acquiring injury prone players via trade/FA. I mean end of the day how to you prevent broken bones and ankle injuries? that's just football.
Agree with both Sus and NY and raise you one. This yr with the shortened covid PS , incl OTAs, sprints, TC, pre season games....there just was NOT enough time , league-wide, for big strong behemoths to get in shape. And directly because of that, look around the other 31 teams. All have had horrendous injuries. DAL is worse off than we are. NYG...i love watching Sasquon, but nope, out with injury. And so it goes. By rights, we should take this miserable season and flush it .
Never should have been played and the injury toll, league wide, but especially here, makes watching pro football...well...not really very pro. Our last two games were prime examples of inferior football, entirely due to massive injuries...both in # and severity. Damn this covid to hell.

Our QB was Brian Hoyer at the time. Lol. Why wouldn't we be looking at QB with the 2nd pick? He just chose to pass and look at Cousins/ Jimmy. But if that was his prospect he would of took him at 2.
Sometimes even the best of minds blows it.

Shanahan messed up badly, he knows it, Lynch knows it, Peters knows it, Mayhew knows it, the head scout knows it, and Jed York knows it. It is Kyle Shanahan's fault that we don't have a dynamic play maker at QB like Mahomes or Watson. See this is the problem when you give the HC all the power over personnel. Kyle Shanahan has never ever been a HC until he took over the 49ers. He is a guy that has made a name for himself based off of his Daddy and that one year in Atlanta that ended with an embarrassing SB loss. Kyle never deserved this kind of control but to his credit he held York by the balls and wouldn't become the HC here without having ultimate control. He's a losing HC for a reason and that's his stubbornness to adapt and change. He's not on the same level as a Belichick,Tomlin, Carroll, Reid, or Payton. He passed on Mahomes and Watson because he didn't think either was intelligent enough to learn his offense( the old ways of thinking about how the NFL viewed certain QBs) and his love crush on a very overrated Kirk Cousins.
I don't trust this guy to make intelligent personnel decisions when it comes to QBs. If the dude falls in love with somebody we are in trouble based off his history of love affairs with guys like Cousins, Williams, Pettis, McKinnon, etc..

He's a glorified Yes man....you have to realize he does what Kyle asks of him and not the other way around.

I want to see this guy get a Mobile qb. Especially if he's going to have a featherweight o-line.

If there's one word to not describe Kyle Shanahan it's stubborn.

he's not stubborn, he just wants to make sure that he gets the recognition of being the team's MVP when we win. .
