Most of his top tier talent is on the shelf so really there's only so much you can do when it comes to running out players that don't fully know your scheme, that haven't mastered the playbook and are replacement quality or below. You can make the best playcalls in the world and a lack of talent will still prevent them from being executed properly.
So now we can't criticize Kyle for not being on top of his game ?
I remember when Saleh was in a similar situation and had to suit up Brian Allen. In fact, that was a much worse situation because literally they had no one else to start. He got his share of criticism of failing to adjust for that game. Did you also go "in the end, does it really matter" ? Or were you asking why he failed to get Allen help when he was being picked on (and rightfully so) ?
What it tells me is that people have some inherent bias to protect their 'favorites' from any sort of criticism, whether it's warranted or not. Particularly noticeable with QBs and coaches in football.
Me, I'm a simple guy. If I see someone has a bad game, I state it as is. Doesn't matter if it's Kyle Shanahan or Bill Walsh, Jimmy G or Steve Young, Mike Rumph or Sherm. Chilo Rachal or Laken, Marcus Martin or Brunskill.
So to reiterate, it was embarrassing watching lack of adjustments from our oline, RB and QB and the coach after Dennis Allen spammed corner blitzes on us with the same guy. It was also embarrassing watching Mike McGlinchey getting schooled yet by another DB.
