They were historically bad last year, and this year, so far so good.

You're taking the concerning part the wrong way. I am not saying we should be concerned with their play. I am saying considering the sample size is two regular season games, if it is laughable to make proclamations about the offense (which, I agree with), it stands to reason it is equally laughable to make proclamations about the defense.

In other words, it's too early to say the offense is bad (true). It's also too early to say the defense is good

The defense has played well the last two games, especially considering they were historically bad last year. I'm not saying they are some top 5 juggernaut all of a sudden. This all while not having their best player (Foster) on the field.

In short, I agree its way too early to make a judgement on how the defense will perform all year.

Let's look at history to compare how making judgements way too early can get you in trouble......

Josh McDaniels at Denver started 6-0.....that start hid the flaming piece of s**t he was as a HC. Now a guy like Andy Reid had 6 games his first year as s HC in which his team didn't surpass 100 yards and only had 2 games in which they passed for over 200 yards. Now that season didn't really tell the story of how good an offensive mind he was.

Especially this ^^

It made choosing a fantasy RB boring.

He is a multiple Superbowl winning play-caller, doubt he's a pos. I mean look at the Falcons this season, they're nothing without Shanny on offense.....

Obviously he was a flaming pos when he actually was the HC....and there you go again making assumptions on TWO games. How was Brady without Josh calling plays? Pure Garbage right? Josh McDaniels made Tom
It's difficult for a OC to transition to HC because of all of the stuff outside of play calling.

He has to think big picture when all he really wants to do is call the plays. I think the more mature Shanny gets and the more he learns, the easier it will get and the better he will become at his HC job.

Either that or he will be a Norv Turner type, Super OC but horrible HC.

As I posted in the Hoyer thread...

Chip Kelly's offense was also much more simplistic and easy to learn as opposed to Shanahan's. The offense will get better as the weeks progress and all the players begin to grasp it a little better. We also won't be playing perennial top five defense's every week either.

Chip Kelly's offense was more about shock than anything. Its similar to college when you only get a week to prepare for a triple option offense. When you only get a short period of time to get accustomed to the speed and style of Kelly's offense, it can stymie you at first. Once NFL teams started to settle in the shock factor started to wear off.

Chip Kelly's offense continued to get worse the longer it stayed in the NFL. Kyle's offense has already proven to be self sustaining and a championship caliber offense. There is no question here in the long term which scheme between the two creates a more winnable platform or gives the whole team better stability.

I love it.....people just acting like Kyle doesn't have an established track record that's spans a decade and have been accomplished with multiple teams and rosters. Nope, this is the "real" playcaller....a decade of results is all fake, the real stuff is the last TWO games with this "obviously" stacked offensive unit. How in the hell is he not averaging 425 yards and 30ppg

Seriously though, all the questioning of Kyle is hilarious. TWO games is way too small of a sample size to be making the proclamations some are. It's laughable.....

He's been one of the games most consistent offensive minds in the last 8 years. He's right up there with the Sean Payton's, Josh McDaniels', and Andy Reid's of the world in offensive acumen but he's not a miracle worker.

No coach can just waive a wand and get instant results. Every coach needs players to make their schemes and play designs a reality. The same people that need that instant gratification have been cited numerous examples of great coach's in the past who needed time to build their teams and see their vision through.

If people came in with irrational expectations of a team that just won two games last season and is in year one of rebuild with 70 percent of a new roster that's on them. It's just going to make the process to improving the team that much harder on them.

It simply takes time for these things to come together. The 49ers are young and far from done in adding more pieces to the puzzle.

everyone on the broncos hated him. the fans hated him. he drafted f**king tim tebow.

how many times did the falcons get to the SB without Shanny as the OC? how many MVPs did Matt Ryan win without Shanny as OC?

And he's won more SBs than the donkeys have ever since. By that logic, Mike Shula of the Panthers is a really elite coach too. I mean Cam also won MVP and went to the SB. Maybe just maybe it's 75% QB and 25% coach. Either way McDaniels >Shanny.

If you guys think Brady and Belichick would keep a s**tty coach around for this long and worse would be grooming him to eventually take over for Belichick than I don't know what to tell you guys......

It's a WCO thing...all the greats did it from Walsh to Shanahan to Holmgren to Kyle.

Never said McD was a s**tty OC, said he was a s**tty HC and that is a proven fact.

This is true and the offense will be in trouble until they do. I hope they decide to try to draft one some day.
