By your estimation, Walsh would never win a game either based on his 0-3 (eventually 0-9) start in 1979.

It's a prediction based on some strong indications of coaching style and approach.

That 2011 team was miles better than the 2017 version. It was in its 5th year of building with 5 drafts. It was only piss poor coaching that had that team peaking at 8-8 and usually hovering in that 6-10 to 7-9 range. Credit goes to Harbaugh for doing what he did but that was a talent stacked roster and I'm sure that's the reason he picked it over Mia in the end. This 2017 team is essentially an expansion team and is more a kin to the '79 squad then the '11 team.

Nope....all coaches are what they did their first year

So all these guys we're obviously flops:

Walsh 2-14
Noll 1-13
jimmy Johnson 1-15

tell that to Mike Nolan, Chip Kelly, and Tomsula.

Agreed.

Nobody was saying how talented that roster was when Singletary took it to 6-10. You need talent to win in this league, but talent does not guarantee winning, so it's silly to imply that any coach could have come in and taken that roster to the same record that Harbaugh did.

Our current roster most closely resembles the 2005 roster than Nolan inherited and had to build back up.

Just because Bill Walsh struggled to win in his first season does not mean that every coach that struggles in his first season will have Bill Walsh's success....

You are counting your chickens before the eggs hatch.

And your prediction is based on nothing but pure guess work.

Our team looks sloppy, and we did some odd playcalls. Hopefully KS improves...
Kyle Shanahan on the #49ers lack of pass rush vs. the Rams: "It wasn't good enough. Our guys didn't win."

Kyle Shanahan: "We didn't affect the QB enough. I though we did a very good job against Seattle and we took a step back on that last night."

At least the coach knows we have issues.

I like him more than our prior 2 head coaches, that's for sure

Shanahan called his best game of the season. Play-call wise, and just coaching-wise.

Pretty much sums up the Kyle Shanahan era so far.

That's why I credited Harbaugh for winning with it. However, I'm going to disagree on nobody thinking it was talented. We were kinda the sleeper pick to win the division numerous times from about 2007 to 2010. We had coaches that brutally beat up the QB position and that's what cost us. Harbaugh did a great job with Alex and than Kap. IMO, Kyle has proven to be an even better play caller and QB guy so I'm pretty sure he would have done just fine with the 2011 team.

looked to me like we needed some extra protection as Donald murdered Hoyer, but hey that's just me

The talent that Harbaugh had sucked until Harbaugh got a hold of them. The guy does it everywhere he goes!

This teams roster is better than the one JH inherited in my opinion. JH wasn't able to pick his QB, or his WR coming in. No one on the team knew his schemes and they had a lockout that year. He came into a situation where he had a very good RB & MLB, and that was it! He coached these guys into All Pros, and made them believe they were winners!

Shanahan just needs to figure out his structure, JH had his hand in everything not just the offense. I think KS will develop into a fine head coach but it's going to take some time. Trying to get out of his daddy's shadow man not be a good thing at this point, he may need to shadow up until he figures it out. I'm still on the KS wagon though...

I love how Shanny was really into the game last night. I love him as our coach.

Not even close.....even piss poor coached that 2010 squad was 6-10. This is a 2 win team that gutted even further. What do you mean he didn't get to pick his QB? They spent a 2nd rounder on one.
