By the time Kelly and Baalke were needing mediation mid last season he certainly didn't want to be in that role again, hence the emphasis on the GM/HC relationship this off season.
I Agree. but Jed picked wrong, and for that, I'm pissed at him.
Well, at least Baalke is gone. His poor choices still haunt this team though. So many poor drafts, so many poor head coaches. So much drama and discord.
Lynch brings a whole new vibe. I like his personality but more importantly I like his knowledge on the defensive side of the ball. I think it's a great mix for Shanahan's offensive knowledge. A great one-two punch both for drafts and building an overall philosophy.
I'm going to give it till at least mid 2018, probably the end of 2018 before I harshly judge the new regime.
The 2018 draft/free agency will make or break their 49er careers IMO. What we do at QB will be a big part of that but we also need blockers, a WR and pass rusher.
Good news is the Saints are sucking so far. We may end up with a pretty good second rounder from them. One first, two seconds and two thirds will go a LONG way in addressing needs.
Thus far I like the 2017 draft. Thomas needs to get going but Foster, Kittle and Taylor seem like ballers. Beathard seems like a decent backup as of now, he could be better, who knows?
What's going on with Witherspoon?
