49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

People are mad because McVay went to Superbowls in his first five years, winning one. The 49ers interviewed him for HC and passed.

And had we hired him, he wouldn't be guaranteed to have gotten us to 2 SBs let alone one or even win. Rosters were vastly different in SF and LA in 2017.

Shanahan may be great play designer, but McVay is a better play caller.

He playcalled his way to 3 points against New England in the SB.

Doubt he would've had 3 points if he had Stafford instead.

Both are really good coaches, but it just goes to show QBs >>> coaches.

QBs need to be the star on the teams not the coaches.

Then go be a LA fan. Pretty sure I saw McVay put up 3 pts in the SB with a similar QB to Jimmy. They got a top 10 QB and look what happens.

Qb isn't a winning stat you said.

QB talent matters….Stafford > Jimmy/Goff's your comment has nothing to do with what I said. I never brought up winning %

Man you crybabies are so on brand. Shanahan is our best option for winning a SB. Get over it.

The only gripe I have with Shanny is that he didn't get the ball to Deebo in the final half of the 4th quarter. McVay was going to live and die with the ball in his best player's hands in Cooper Kupp. Live and learn.

It all comes down to Lance. If he's as good as they are all hoping, then this team should be making playoff runs for years to come. How he plays is going to determine what the outlook for the next five years is. If he's good, real good then they are a regular SB contender yearly. If he's average then they are going to need to build up a suffocating defense and if he's worse, then they might be looking for new people to run things altogether.

Shanahan/Lynch have two years with the Lance experiment, the first year Lance having to show imorovement as the season progresses. If he does suck next year and shows no signs of improvement, both Lynch and Shanahan need to be shown the door.

If Trey Lance isn't at least a starting level NFL QB, that's the kind of thing that gets Shanahan and Lynch fired. We traded a boatload of picks for Lance and unless something insane happens, are getting rid of Jimmy.

I, for one, am excited for the Trey Lance era and really like our current regime, but yeah… if he doesn't ultimately become an upgrade over Jimmy, that would be very bad.

Stafford gets a lot of credit, certainly… but the two players who won that game for the Rams were Kupp and Donald.

They don't win that game (or get there) with Goff or Jimmy.

You need both a QB and head coach. We have the head coach and are hopeful Trey is our guy.

I have hope for lance but even if he is good. At the end of the day winning a sb is hard. Aaron only has 1 after all these years. There is no guarantee, it's very possible that mahomes may go his entire career without winning another.

Shanahan put himself in this position. Can't make excuses for him

Shanahan put himself in position to acquire Lance with a long term outlook. Going to have to wait and see how good Lance actually is.

Yup imo our success this year was a bit surprising and we overachieved a bit. Kudos to the team for that.

If lance ends up being a top qb we will be contenders for the next 13 years. If he's great lookout. If he sucks then have these forums to vent lol

Yeah that isn't going to happen.

Thats the difference. Mcvay is just smarter and has balls. Kyle doesnt. That one 4th down call, kyle wouldve punted that lmao 🤣🤣🤣

Lol you know who goes for it the least amount in the NFL? McVay. Try again

Lol third best….in the division. With a FO that chose to try and thread the needle with a super bowl ready roster instead of going full measure and making the team as good as possible.
Everyone knows that if we used the capital we used to get Lance in the trade market or through drafting ready now players….the Niners would've beat the Rams and most likely Cincinnati tonight and got 6.
