Fair point... just depends on how well he ages. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers have aged well. Matt Ryan has declined at Age 36.
Reports are saying though that the Rams are looking to extend Stafford, who is only signed through 2022. That's going to be a huge contract for the next few years. They'll be competitive with him at QB, but their cap should be maxed out in the next few years and they haven't had a first round pick since 2016. I could certainly see them falling off in the same way the Seahawks did---after Russell Wilson signed his contract, the Seahawks were always a playoff team, but their rosters never felt very balanced and were not the world-wreckers we saw them in 2012-2014.
I'm very curious how the Rams look next year.
Woods coming off ACL
OBJ UFA and likely won't be ready to play with his ACL coming so late in the season
Whitworth retiring
Donald - I highly doubt he actually retires considering he has a chance to break the all time sack record but he brought it up so either he's looking for a new deal or it's on his mind. If he retires it's a HUGE HUGE loss for them.
Austin Corbett and Brian Allen - starting C and RG both UFA
Von Miller UFA
Darious Williams UFA
Their first pick in the draft unless they make a trade will be a 3rd round comp pick, then a 4th round comp pick.
Maybe they use all their comp picks and find draft gems and keep it going but that's a tough ask. Obviously we're not in much better draft pick shape but we should get some exta ammo from Jimmy trade. We also are in better cap shape once the Jimmy deal is done and having Trey on his rookie deal gives us a lot more wiggle room in FA.
As for Stafford he's still "young" in QB age but that guy has taken a beating over the years. We'll see his longevity.
