Kyle envisioned he'd be the next cousins, at least that's what he talked about after drafting him. You don't really draft a QB that early, unless you think he has starting potential.
i just gave you the link earlier. Kyle's plan was to get Kirk all along. CJ was just a back up. Kyle's plan was looking like a long shot and they traded for Jimmy

Yes, I'm aware of that. I never said that CJ was gonna be the man to begin with. He was drafted so we could hopefully develop him.

BOTTOM LINE is that KS10 drafted CJ, that alone tells you that he was the reason why he DIDN'T draft Mahomes..

KS10 also had a chance to have TB12 and did not pull the trigger.. he was too afraid to FAIL w/o an excuse.. at least by going on Grappy, he and his followers here would always point to Grappy as the reason why we are the 2nd best team in the NFC..
Shanahan could had:

-Mahomes
-Watson
-Brady
-Stafford

But Shanahan want/wanted:

-Cousins
-Beathard
-Garoppolo

Shanny traded the farm to get Lance but he didn´t give him experience last year and now we still don´t know if the kid is gonna play this next season because Shanny/Lynch or even Jed haven´t said a thing about it and the possibility of Garoppolo staying and doing a QB-competition with Lance (and destroying the locker room) is real.

After 5 seasons Shanahan still doesn´t have the QB situation resolved .
The starting QB is Lance. This is blatantly obvious based on what they invested, their comparison to Smith/Mahomes, and their clear messaging about moving on from Garrapolo once he's healthy. This idea that they would invest that much draft capital in a young QB only to never play him over multiple years is just cynical fearmongering.

Shanny also lies all the time. Part of me thinks they will be too stubborn to take a mediocre deal for Jimmy/ cut him so he will be here this year. Then another part of me thinks if he's here Shanny won't be able to help himself and will go with Jimmy as the starter, maybe with Lance sprinkled in like to start this year. Just my 2 cents

Then it's this past season all over again with the locker room b***hing about giving Trey his packages. Not ideal at all.

Literally everyone in the league has passed over greatness at some point. Nobody ever gets the benefit of hindsight on draft day and it's a known fact there is no science and no proven winning formula to drafting a FQB.

  1. To some extent, that Is true. The problem is/was, the 9ers was In need of a QB back then and choose to Ignore It. I actually remember reading an article about how Lynch wanted Kyle to take another look at Mahomes but Kyle ignored it. Either way, let's hope Lance makes us forget about what we previously missed out on.
Kyle didn't ignore it, he had other plans. So he got his placeholder and back up

What plans? We we're stuck with Mr injury prone for 5 years, until he eventually realised he needed an upgrade.
His plan was to get Kirk Cousins.. this has been known for awhile

Yup. Then he got Jimmy and unfortunately - as with Dee Ford, Kyle learned the hard way that you can't judge health and durability from philm.

no one could
What a legend. I can honestly say this is the best I've felt about a 49er HC since Harbs and Mooch. Hope he is out there somewhere blueprinting his 10 point lead philosophy that's the one obstacle.

he's just not a HC... he can't game plan... and just goes thru a list of plays and call it from there..

it ain't changin... he'll have his moments then he'll choke when it counts the most..

A coach who's inherited the worst roster in the nfl when he was first hired has taken them to a super bowl and 2 nfc championships, is "just not a HC"

dumb

Moon has no clue what he's talking about when it comes to Kyle. It's cool though PJ Fleck is a mastermind HC according to him

Nobody thought Mahomes and Watson were going to be as good as they were, easy to forget Mitch Trubisky was the highest graded QB of a "weak" qb class. Stafford was never coming to SF. Brady is the one black eye.

if Trey Lance started last year this team would've been 6-11 at best instead of in the nfc championship, and it's sad how much of the fanbase would've been happier with the former.

I didn't know you are able to see alternate realities. Pretty cool man.
Dude had about a week off and instantly had to hire and train a new coaching staff. Now FA, draft and OTA's.

I hope he gets some help this year by Lynn and others and the FO..

The man can only do so much.

Lots of people here did, myself included. Oh, and Andy Reid did. Called him what I called him: "Brett Favre."

According to the people who were wrong about Mahomes and Watson, sure.
Stafford was never coming to SF. Brady is the one black eye.
This is fair. Shanahan actually tried to get Stafford, but McVay was pretty obviously tampering.

Unlikely. We probably would have finished with the same record and been better at the end of the season. However, our losses would have happened more at the beginning of the year, when we played our tie-breaker games (which we won with Jimmy). So it's quite possible we'd have been a better team but missed the playoffs due to losing tie-breakers.
