The biggest difference between those 2 regimes is Harbaugh inherited a very talented roster and Shanahan has had to build his from the ground up.

The biggest difference is that Kyle inspires confidence from his supreme knowledge, it's long lasting and doesn't cause friction.

Harbaugh worked with Raa Raa and intensity, it wears thin. Burns bright, but burns out.

I prefer Kyle because the offense Is actually more enjoyable to watch, bit I'm not sure I'd say he's better than Harbaugh just yet.

2011. NFCCG appearance
2012. Super bowl appearance
2013. NFCCG appearance.

That's pretty Impressive tbh. One thing they do have In common though Is that they both lost the big one.

Kyle is play calling a 10 lead in the Super bowl, and this year in the NFC Championship game against our biggest rival and no ring. He's a play it safe and run it up the middle guy. Never going for the kill in games and I'm wondering if he's any good as head coach to be honest.

He's goes conservative when he's got full momentum (ATL OC & running game in the Superbowl) and goes YOLO when he's lost it (low % shot to Aldrick Robinson & Emmanuel Sanders).
Love my coach Shanahan!

Their team (building) philosophy is nearly identical too: DL-centric, moderate cost complimentary secondary, top LB's, running game-centric, run blockers at all levels, TOP control, complimentary passing game, ST (Harbaugh more focus here), etc. Jim was more inside running and Kyle more outside but as HC's, clever in the run designs to still get success...run to set up the pass.

Team Building identical ? maybe just knowing what you need, but def not building or philosophies of building

Harb polished a finished product and ran it into the dirt
Kyle built his from scratch and continues to build

Exactly! That is what I was referring to in an earlier post. That is the biggest difference to me.
Watching Steve Kerr's Warriors gives a hopeful peak into what the Shanahan 49ers could become. What strikes me as similar are how both coaches have created such great locker room cultures where players really fight to the finish even when the chips are down, and innovative "fun" offenses for their respective sports. What Steve has that Kyle doesn't is that he inherited some all time great hall of fame players which led to multiple championships. It would be like if Kyle inherited a team with Young/Rice on the roster. If Trey can be great, then sky is the limit for this team.

which is probably why he usually tries to leave after 3-5 years

Wasn't he forced out?

It was "mutual".

I know what you two mean...two different scenarios where Jim was handed a playoff ready team that needed leadership and cohesion whereas Kyle has built his team from scratch and continues to do that...literally handing Lynch a blue print for every single player he wants for his system.

I was referencing their philosophy for winning...their formula is very similar in a number of ways.

And TBF, no doubt that the way the 49ers were originally constructed was a big attraction for why Jim wanted to come here.

Jim had a new baby, and a smokin hot wife that would rather not move unless he had an offer he couldn't refuse
thats why he came ( stayed ) here.
