49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Kyle had an off season to build an offense around trey. His innovation was to run trey up the gut 20 times in 1 game and a quarter until trey got injured.

Instead of getting a backup who could run the same "innovative scheme" we bring in Jimmy g who hasn't had a run called for him in 10 years and not a running qb who could also run up the middle (wow what a genius offensive mind Kyle is!!)

What this tells me is... Kyle had no game plan and strategy for trey. He hasn't developed one qb since he's been here. Everyone has gotten worse. Kyle has gotta go.
The offense has not evolved at all from last season and running Deebo is now stupid as teams know its coming. I think Kyle is overloaded as HC and OC etc and lost a lot of his brain trust. All i know is whatever hes doing, he for sure needs to rethink his approach.

It's like fans weren't around for us spending 3 first rounders on Lance. We did that for a reason. Jimmy ain't it.

Yup Kyle has his warts too, but toss Kyle a good QB and this offense is scoring a ton of points. Hopefully that's Lance down the road. Fans need to accept and support that because that's the route they're going. Or they can just scream fire Kyle and think we can magically find a better HC lol.

Toss any coach a good QB and his offense will score a lot of points.

The strength of this team is the D and running game, not the QB, regardless if it was Trey (inexperience) or Jimmy Fail (limitations) this season.

Play to your strengths and not your weaknesses, it's really THE ONLY WAY TO WIN AND THE BEST CHANCE TO WIN GAMES. F JIMMY.

Spot on. What's so special about kyle them if he needs a hall of fame qb?
He needs to change his hat.

This one ain't working. Get some different mojo.
After 6 years of this bull$hit I'm done.

Shannahan is not an offensive guru.
Shannahan is not a QB whisperer.
Shannahan cannot develop a QB.
Shannahan's offensive genius plans are predictable and boring.

Shannahans gotta go. 6 years is long enough. HE IS WHO HE IS! He's afraid of his own shadow and he overthinks EVERYTHING!

Dorsey, Payton....... ill take either. Shannahan is OVERRATED and he's gotta go.

The thing is I'm not so sure we would. Maybe by extension and also maybe by "accident".

I think it was Jonny that along the way has supplied a couple of quotes from Kyle along the way. One was from his time in Houston where he said they scored a ton of points but didn't win many games as well as Kyle admitting that he calls plays differently as a head coach than he did as an OC because he has the whole team and the effect on his defense to consider.

Jimmy certainly isn't great. He also isn't as bad as his harshest critics believe.

Everyone putting blind faith in Kyle because the media says he's a genius, because some players do, because his offenses were successful, because his last name's Shanahan and just yearning for an "elite QB".... I seriously doubt if you see much difference in the offense with a more mature Trey at the helm, provided he gets there. You'll see maybe more QB runs because Kyle does that or because Trey does that. Maybe a few more deep shots. But it likely will largely look the same and lead to similar results.

Kyle taking the blame for the safety.... not entirely untrue. Sure it was Jimmy's mess up. But a play action fake in that situation making it a longer developing play... yeah Kyle didn't invent that and it has happened a lot in football, but the offensive line has to hold up and this was by far the best defense and pass rush we had faced so far this year.

I mean we didn't get the full version hottest commodity in the NFL offensive mind even after the Super Bowl debacle in Atlanta. We got a slightly watered down version because he made the decision to become that. Doesn't mean he's horrible but it is what it is.
There's something about Kyle and the number "10"

Seriously though, scoring a measly 10 points when you have Kittle, Deebo and Aiyuk to work with Is putrid regardless of who the QB Is.

Let's hope Kyle stops sleep walking through the season and turns It around.
I don't blame Kyle at all but I do think teams have him figured out. Deebo's running lanes are now non existent and teams are jumping our play calls. For example the two WR screens to Deebo where they had guys just camp in the throwing lane forcing Jimmy to throw over them. That play was extremely successful last year and Denver took that away.
Crucial penalties at crucial times
A backup QB who didn't even know the plays
Backups who are totally lost
Some questionable in-game decision making
We've regressed to a 1920's offense while the rest of the league is passing all over the field
Same issues persistent annually (i.e. still can't pass protect; game over if he can't run, poor adjustments if any)
QB's look completely lost and deflated psychologically
Zero imagination in the play calling (so predictable Denver seemed to know every play before the snap)
Slow starts annually
ST's still an issue (i.e. coverage, return game, gaffs)

Kyle is my dude and I don't want to lose him but man, these trends just keep popping up annually.

And odds are he'll pull the team through a tough stretch here and they'll be highly competitive in every game and knock on the door of the playoffs again.

He's got his strengths and weaknesses like all his QB's.

My biggest concern right now is he seems to be regressing from a play caller standout. And that was the #1 reason he got the HC job.

It's not Kyle's fault he's been figured out and hasn't adjusted to that as the HC/OC?
I can't send Kyle to the Gallos until I see him with a legit QB. I hate what happened to Trey. But until Trey is back and given two years fully to bloom we don't know.

I thought we were going to be the NFC team that destroys like an AFC team soon. I guess we wait. But I'm on board he needs to be open minded to new ideas.
I'd be curious what the conversation with Jed York was like today.

"This is what I get for my money??"
Kyle definitely seems to have a problem holding leads in the 4th quarter and making 2nd half adjustments. It seems like they always start pretty well but then the offense seems to go stagnant. It's odd because he's viewed as one of the top offensive minds in the league.

When you get beat by a team that had 8 more 3 and outs than you, something is wrong. Of course Wilson always seems to have one big series that manages to beat the Niners.
