Am I the only person on the planet who thinks we can beat the Cardinals at home? We should have beat them in their house.
as long as Larry Fitz is playing..it will be a tough one

foster is not going to make bowman play better. trade him for a sixth before his mouth becomes a distraction. willis knew when his game was slipping and quit at the right time

IF we had slightly better QB play we'd be at least 3-2. people need to focus on individual player grow and see who's got a place on this team for the future. Gotta look past the wins and losses year 1 into a rebuild.

Some of the people complaining, just didn't want Shanny or just like to complain and are getting their "moment" to do it. sad

This. People who were going to complain no matter what happened short of a 16-0 season.
nope. some people just do not see the so called improvement and improved culture of the team that others do and choose to hold the coach responsible for it in large measure. you can slap a label on those people if you want but that is the way it is for many people here

you fail to see the small picture. we are 0-5 and have too many penalties. that is on the coaches. shanahan sucks.

Haha...you can put Lynch, Kyle and Saleh right in there with the youth development as well. They too are learning on the fly and gaining experience daily.

Did anyone notice we went with a hurry up this last week successfully? We couldn't even run a 2 minute drill in Week 1.

Kyle still has his work cut out for him...his young team IS leading the league in penalties, drops, injuries and probably high on TO's too.

With experience, you'd think much of that will take care of itself but it's infuriating to watch right now and Kyle already has grey hair to show for it.

understand. we are just built different. i may have taken a super bowl blow in 2012 better than what it turned out to be. i just do not think we deserve style points cuz we can not find a way to win games but thats just me. i expect more than i did two months ago and expect more in a month than what i do know. i see there are articles that kyle has left the door open for the kid to start. i am glad he is no longer saying things like. hoyer gives us the best chance to win cuz that is becoming clearly not the case here

(a) however is something to talk about. As I wrote in my original email, losing games makes sense if you are developing young talent who will be with you for years when the next great team is assembled.

Nice post Paul.

This is ultimately it for me this year. Lay down two battle tested real NFL schemes (one that can take 3 years to master) and get as many snaps as you can for your young players who will be part of the foundation going forward. I look at individual performances each week within this context.

And most fans are missing it. It's calculated. This is literally an extended pre season designed to install the systems and get the youth up to speed within the systems.

And each week, just like a pre season game, a new player is highlighted:

Hoyer - as bipolar as it gets BUT clearly, the playbook is wide open with him and as a result, the other 10 grow faster.
Taylor - highlighted two weeks ago
Kittle - highlighted this week
Hyde - coaches have seen enough; time to develop Breida
Breida - highlighted this week while Hyde sat
Goodwin - highlighted the past two weeks
T.Brown - highlighted this week in outside zone (our future)
Tartt & Ward - our future
Thomas - learning 3 positions (our future)
Buckner - duh
Armstead - ? but learning 3 positions
Jones - nice player learning from Mitchell
Robinson - had his best game
Witherspoon - was put in for Dontae but got a concussion (our future?)
Tank - our future at 6T
Williams - our future (new contract)
Juice - our future
Foster - our future
Taylor/Bolden/Mostert/Colbert/Nelson/Pinion - our present and future (all studs already)

And soon we'll start to see Blair, Pita and maybe BeatHard too at some point.

This is all calculated with targeting and developing the youth. Guys like Bowman, Mitchell, Celek, Garcon, Paulsen, etc. are going to see less and less snaps and in fact, we're already seeing that and that was the plan all along...as it should be!

The fact that we're taking that approach AND staying competitive during system installs, with so much youth and while having the 2nd most players on I.R. is a HUGE testament to our Head Coach.

Forget the W-L's...this is how you evaluate a rebuild.

And kuddos to Kyle for executing the FO plan. It's the right plan for tomorrow.

This X 1000

i am fine dumping the first two.... i just think lynch does bring something in the pass rush game. geez., we already dumped brooks for eli. whom i think there is some common ground for all in thinking he is garbage times ten. i just think its a major mistake to get rid of lynch. we already are struggling on defense in my opinion and our secondary needs a pass rush until the gm gets that area fixed on the team

LOL I asked you to give me a detailed analysis of why you think the team is NOT improving and I get a bunch of one liners that tell me nothing.

Yep. Our 9ers still suck, which shouldn't surprise anyone.

So far however, they're incomparably more fun to watch this year than they were the previous two years.

The true pleasure in this year's crappy team IMO, and on offense in particular, is that when plays don't work you can usually pinpoint the individual player of marginal talent which caused the play not to work. You can say "Oh, that run play got blown up because Tomlinson isn't very good and missed his block", or because Hoyer isn't very good and missed an open read, or because Goodwin dropped the pass, etc., etc., etc.

Over the last two years on top of talent problems we've had misbegotten scheme and play calling problems. Just being a team for which the major problem is a lack of talent is a HUGE improvement, even if it doesn't show up in the W/L column.

Agreed

you are right. it seems the narrative does change.. last week lots were booking a win vs the colts etc.. after a horrible loss to a horrible team. it kind of changed to. its hard to win on the road. its really hard for me to sugar coat a loss like that to a team like that and see improvement. no one is calling for anyone to get fired but i just not impressed

ok,,,, i am not happy with the dc.. playing soft coverage crap,. i hold him directly responsible for the cards loss... i do not believe you have to learn by losing but if you do not learn when you lose. thats a double negative
Head coach Shanahan is doing good for offense score and good call for playbook when Hoyer got 330 yards his throw the balls to WRS and TE. We should give to Shanahan for 3 years. Trust me.

ok.. i expect more from a mod than a bunch of snark .its almost like you are trying to bait posters like sunny did back in the day.. yesterday you asked and i gave you answers. you can slap a label of one liners on them but thats your problem. i can easily tell you that your blather on why our team is improving so much as you see it. tells me nothing either. this forum is about different opinions. since when did he become popular for mods to just call people out and then attack them when they answer. then you roll out the shock and awe when there are threads in the parking lot in regards to moderators. that deserves a big fat lol
