49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

He's like the kid on a long weekend who forgot he had homework due the night before.

Well in fairness to Kyle - he traded for Lance and Lance was the starter. jimmy G ended up being the back up unexpectedly and then Lance was lost for the year. I can't blame Kyle for that aside running Lance way to much lol

Which is why we can't pass judgment on Kyle until
he and Lance get next season to prove the trade was a good move and he deserves to HC moving forward after '23 season.

For this season, he gets credit for the Jimmy signing. His offense is middle of the league which is not great, but the team in aggregate is good and should win more than they lose.

Still don't believe Jimmy can win it all, but I will say he's played great the last two weeks.

Here's my 24 hour reaction

Kyles play calling was s**t at times. And other times fantastic.

Jimmy had some high throws as usual, but no bad throws tbh and overall was very good I'm happy to say. (I hope Furlow sees this lol) I mean Aiyuk dropped a great TD pass.

The main issue yesterday aside some play calling was on critical plays, someone on the o-line had a mistake or was plain beat and it killed drives and points for us. McGlinchey is so anti clutch it's infuriating!

Within the play calling I cannot believe how little Kittle and Deebo were used in the passing game.

I mean it's not like Kittle and Deebo weren't running routes out there. They were both on the field a ton like always. The reads went elsewhere and that's on the QB just as much.

I told people when CMC got here it would push other guys in the background. 2-0 with him so that's all that should matter imo

Every week is different. One week a team can look like world beaters the next they can fall flat to an inferior opponent . It's part of football, I just assumed anyone with common knowledge for the game knew this

49ers got a win when they didn't necessarily play their best for a majority of the game, turns out that it's hard to beat good teams even when they may be dealing with injuries, who would've known 😨. hopefully they execute better in the redzone going forward, that was my biggest issue coming out of that game.

I think what has some fans bothered (including me) is everyone had the Niners winning thus game easily. The Chargers run defense is the worst in the league and their defensive line is beat to pulp. The 49ers ran well but they averaged about a yard less per carry than the Chargers had been giving up. The Niners had 8 players coming back from injuries including 3 starters. They had an extra week to prepare nad come uo with ways to use CMC.

All that and still the game was close. I hate to think what it would have looked like if Herbert had all his receivers and their defense wan't so beat up.

49ers rushed for 157 but that wasn't good enough because they earned a yard less than other teams that play the Chargers…boo hoo . Despite that it was still good enough to win the game. If the 49ers would've won 42-3 fans would still be complaining, probably worried that the team is "peaking too soon". If you want to critic the team about how where you would like them to improve on that's fine, but everyone ready to fire Shanahan like they just lost to the Texans is some of the worst overreactions I've ever seen on here.

Everyone was ready to hand the Bills the Lombardi trophy now they're sitting at 3rd in their own division. Point is who cares How pretty or ugly it looks as long as you win?!, turns out the Chargers are still a pretty good team. This team still has plenty of time to figure things out for the playoffas long as they keep winning and staying healthy

People just expected more. On the pregame show all 7 predicted a NIner win based mostly on the running game. 157 yards is great but against this defense I expected more. It wasn't disappointment as much as surprise. There was even a prop bet on whether VCMC would have a run of 16 yards of more. He didn't. All Niner fans are happy they won but many are surprised it was that close.

I don't necessarily disagree with your take but he didn't pass on Stafford. He got beat to the punch. Allen came into the league pretty raw and so did Hurts. So saying he passed on those 2 as if they were a shoe in as FQB's is disingenuous. He did pass on Brady and Mahomes though and he has yet to hit on a QB selection.

You could say the same thing for Mahomes. He was raw a sushi. Passing on Brady when Jimmy just went to the Super Bowl (and coming off Tommy's worst season) wasn't some duh do it thing at that time. It also isn't just a kyle decision either.

people love doing the Captain hindsight stuff, conveniently leaving out a ton of context.

This thread shows that's not true. Want losses so Kyle gets fired.

I wasn't surprised. This is the same team that lost to Denver and Atlanta despite being heavy favorites. Glad they finally won a game they were suppose to, it's a step in the right direction.

All true.

Brady looked like time had caught up to him in 2019. Just like he did when the Bucs were 3-5 a couple weeks ago. Problem with Brady is that father time WILL catch up to him some day, and some team out there will be the one holding the bag. That's a huge risk. Guy will be 46 next year, so the idea of bringing him in for 2023 is extremely risky, too.
Great 49ers gift ideas
Kyle was a genius for ignoring Tom Brady. He's nothing but a Jimmy G with a better deep ball.

You are your record. That's the saying. His record is below .500. He has made zero progress on getting an FQB in 6 years. You can make whatever excuses for this that you like as 'context'. It is what is is.

Clearly Matt LaFleur is a better coach.

He just traded up to get a FQB, we haven't been able to see the fruits of that because of injury. You and I both know this, but you need to gaslight. Stop acting like we're dumb and don't see that.

Talking bluntly about record without context is form of confirmation bias at its finest.

pretending you don't have to apply anything to something like that is ridiculous. I could say guess what he's won 70% of his games with a QB that's not a FQB (according to you)

It's going to take until year after next. Next year maybe a teaser by mid- to late season. I'm cool with that. It's the way it unfolded. Hope others are as well.
