We have the weapons to dictate now. Not be dictated.

I get what you're saying though.

Super stoked. It was great all around after a tad shaky start with the cute stuff and predictable run on first down. Then, boom!

SF can game plan vs anyone now. We don't have to have an all-pro QB as long as he's managing the offense and not turning the ball over. So far so good.

That's been my point all along esp. once we got CMC. Like Ricky Watters said, no offense to the Chargers but we don't play against them. We play against ourselves.

In short, they dictate and play to their own standards. The opposition just happens to be there on the field at the same time. LOL

Play calling and game planning is based on opponents strengths and weaknesses. The chargers have one of the worste run defenses in the league. JD showed it was execution that was the reason why the run game was slow to get going last week. The film also showed we would have won by even more than we did if it wasn't for a dropped TD and a fumble lost. No surprise that the run game didn't really get going again this week until we finally put Mitchell in there like last week.

While again your premise is correct. It HAS NEVER been to this extent as it was the last two weeks

They know.

The addition of CMC, getting Mitchell back healthy and Jimmy playing really well gives us that flexibility.
Kyle Shanahan is now a winning coach at 49-48 for the first time in his tenure.

I think he's something like 40-20 with Jimmy G as his starting QB

Your premise is correct. No denying that. The fact we only called 7 run plays in 1st half is more than enough evidence to show the game was called differently than last week.

You expect the game to be called the same way every week vs. defenses with different strategies?

It really isn't much of a surprise to me. Defenses on 3rd down, especially 3rd and medium+ are clamping down on routes near the sticks. It is much easier to complete a pass underneath and have one of our YAC monsters break a tackle in order to convert.
So is Webzone still firing this guy or what?

No I do not. Just like I don't expect every game plan he uses to work. Like last week. ..

I should rephrase: I don't expect every game plan to work smoothly like last week.

I'll also add, this is the first time I recall Shanny deviating from his usual game plan. Which is what some of us was asking for last week. So while I would expect a different game called under Shanny it seemed to rarely happen.

PJ Fleck would have won 84-0

You can let him out of his time out at least.

Exactly. Even the original game plan last week going in was sound. But once it was clear what was going on, we've got the ability to pivot away from that for a bit and come back to it; even dictate. No need to pound your head against a brick wall anymore and make it was harder than it needs to be.
So instead of getting to the Red-zone where we've struggled we just break long YAC for TDs. Great adjustment Kyle
