Our secondary without Reid is horrible...

Our secondary with him is still horrible. The CBs are the problem not the safeties.

I just don't know if I want to trade Reid. He was doing well early before the injury and we spent a 1st on him. Trading him won't net us very much, unless New England is willing to give us Jimmy G for him and a pick or two (Lol yeah right)

You either trade him and get something or he leaves free agency because i don't lynch wants to sign him.

Yah I would love to see Reid traded, he's just always injured. Instead of Jimmy G., let's see if they would trade Chris Hogan for Eric Reid, 49ers could definitely use Hogan sliding Goodwin or Robinson to the slot.

I do believe Jed made the right choice to move on completely tho.

I also believe he lucked into Kyle.
you said nothing wrong. people say we lucked into jh as well

We definitely did - JH was a nightmare to deal with but a good coach. He chose Baalke.....lol

Jury is out on Kyle obviously, but Jed was lucky someone with his offensive scheming reputation desired to be here.

Seems like your covering your ass when the winning comes. I'm curious, who did you want the niners to hire as HC ? Are you saying that Shanahan was your pick but he's not now because he can't coach? Did you think the niners would be like 8-8 this season?

I wanted shanny but he's been very underwhelming thus far. Mcvay seems to be the superior coach.

No not with this roster and coaching.

then you had your expectations unrealistically high for his first season. period.

McVay walked into a really good situation, not to mention revamping their receivers with Woods and Watkins helped. But I will say this, McVay did the one thing I wanted Shanahan to do and that was hire Wade Phillips or a veteran DC, I also wanted Gus Bradley too and they almost had him. I do think Saleh is doing a fairly decent job for a rookie DC, but if I were a rookie head coach I would've hired a veteran DC and hopefully Shanahan does with Vic Fangio's contract up at the end of the season or year.

and i think his game is way over rated by many here. and he hurt bowman. we always do a lovely job of hurting our own players going back to ken norton

i thought vic was over rated and a product of great players but so far this year. yes i would be fine bringing him in. that soft coverage stuff makes me nuts

His DB's don't play 10 yards off, so I'd already be good with bringing Fangio back!!! But he's done a solid job this year, from 15th in 2016 to 6 up to week 6. But with that said, I won't get my hopes up.

you trade ried and bowman., which is very tricky cuz of that contract. but i think you dump em both . if you are going to clean. then clean, and they esp, bowman have done nothing so far this year... maybe get a 4th for bowman but most likely a 6th for each one and never look back

Any other good DC candidates out there? Not that big names are always the answer.

Fair answer. Mcvay could turn out to be the better coach, but its very hard to compare coaches being on different teams. Goff or Hoyer? Rams defense or 49ers defense? I also think Shanahan has taken this year to evaluate players more than just winning games. Kerley and Brooks were both better players, at their positions, than what Shanahan kept on the 53. But Brooks was gone after this year anyway and would Kerley be better than Taylor 1 or 2 years down the road? Can't evaluate Bolden as a returner/receiver if he doesn't make the 53.

well if things continue the way we are going.. i wonder if any coaches will be on the chopping block. special teams guy can stay. we have so many dropped balls. do you think we need a new wide out coach., again maybe best to wait to talk at the end? it was always said. maybe more rumored by fans here we are just biding our time till vic gets free. right now,,i would be more than fine with that

i think he has done a lovely job of disrespecting himself at least wilis knew when it was time to go. to many examples of players staying to long and becoming a total shell and embarrassing thing on the field

Bowman has been far from "embarrassing" just not nearly the same.
