49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

I'm sure Kyle regrets that now but it is too late for regrets. The Eagles came in with a well-earned reputation for getting after the passer. So, game plan extra protection for the QB. Cincy didn't win tonight but they did change the protection after the first quarter and it made a big difference. Except for a dumb penalty, they could have won.

From his answers at the post game PC, shannahan doesn't regret any of his calls. He regrets that they weren't run properly.
if purdy didn't get injured on that hit, we wouldn't even be talking about that play, win or lose.

Of course he doesn't. The entire first string could be all pros and he would still draft up a play to bring the backup tight end or third wr to block an all pro edge rusher and complain the guy didn't execute when the play fails.

I'm sure he's absolutely shocked that play did not work with purdy and lost 10 yards when he ran it with Josh Johnson next series.

No accountability... No change in the game plan per opponent.

Everyone else's fault...that's how great leaders win....
It's the same as when trey got hurt. Jimmy came in and he ran the exact same play. Kyle just doesn't give a F about his players health.
After a few hours to digest this game. I still say Kyle's a loser.

Come get me when he wins the big one. It ain't happening.
6 years in still searching for QB1 and an identity to go along with

team is criminally loaded at all pros all positions yet often can't get out of their own way in big games

i know QB injury played a big role here but a lot of poor ball on special teams, D, penalties, player ejection, a lot of other stuff, most all of it bad

Was Kyle the O/C in Washington when RGIII got hurt?

Yep, he was
Shanahan will never win a big one.

Today he's got a pass because you can't win without a qb. But no excuses for the others.

Does that mean, you'll stay off the zone til he wins one?

Sadly I feel like he's following the Andy Reid career path and unfortunately we are the 2000s Eagles that kept losing NFCCG/SBs.
Wish he'd take some accountability and not just throw guys under the bus for not "executing."

Guy makes millions of dollars a year.

Swallow your pride say you F*cked up then hire some guys to help you.

Get a guy to call timeouts and do game management calls (kick FG, vs go for it on 4th, when to onside kick, when to kick out the back of endzone, when to use timeouts etc...)

Hire another guy to game plan against specific teams and players each week (we're going to attack corner xxxyyh because he can't cover the slot, we're going to use mason and run him left because left side can't handle backs weighing more than 220, etc...)

Then hire another guy to check the play selection each week and tailor to each teams defense (maybe we shouldn't put long developing plays against teams with good pass rush, maybe we should not have the backup tight end block all pro pass rushers, maybe you run behind Trent instead of mglinctchey because he's struggling etc...)

It's arrogance and narcissism that keep him from just delegating the work around.
