Agreed. Austin Hooper would be a more realistic option.

Yup. Unit pass protection. If you want to run this system the TE's, FB, RB and even WR's need to be able to hold in PP. Otherwise we'd just use an extra OL each time which would defeat the very purpose.

I hear ppl make the excuse of well we need better blocking. We have Trent Williams widely regarded as #1 LT active. Kittle a fierce blocker. Juice. McG a top 10 pick. I think in terms of blocking talent we are top 10 maybe top 5. Our WRs can block.

Run blocking they are elite. Outside of Trent, none of those guys are very good in pass protection. That's a different skill set altogether.

Honestly I wasn't impressed with our run blocking from our OL this season (as compared to previous KS offensive lines. I think we could use more talent there or some growth from the young players. Maybe Jason Poe has a Hufanga like sophomore season. Idk, but it starts at center where I think we took a significant downgrade from Alex Mack.

The good news is this was a really good baseline year for sure. Meaning, the FO should have a good idea where they can upgrade. If they resort to Colton McKivitz-like moves, expect a repeat of the insanity definition.

Kyle has still never won anything, his accomplishments are average at best.

With that said, I think he needs to sit down with his dad and create a next steps type of plan. Keep in mind we don't have a bunch of high draft picks or a lot of $ to spend on free agents. we have our own free agents. Not even sure if we need to add much.

I could see trading a few guys that we love, but I don't think trading a Kittle, Elijah Mitchell, or Deebo will get you anything that will get us over the hump.

Average coaches go to 3 out of 4 nfc title games?

with his dad come on man.. this is JL time of year.. leave KS to recharge the batteries.. look I love Papa Shanny but he's retired and KS needs a recharge. I do believe coaches coach, let GMs GM. I wouldn't want JL with the playsheet.

Do you think the Bills in the 90's were the best team ever? What do you think of Andy Reid?

Kyle & Jim Harbaugh accomplished the same so far, only Harbaugh was a little more consistent (3 NFCCG's in 3 years).

Andy Reid is a H.O.F coach. Look at what he's done in Conference Championships (AFC & NFC combined). Not to mention the Super Bowl.

His dad is one of the best coaches to ever do it! Why not tap into that?

I still love Mike Shanahan for what he did for us in 1994. His dad already has a 49ers super bowl ring.

my thing look I loved Papa Shanny when he was OC

the game moves on.. he prolly isn't as dialed in as he was back in the day

JL this is his moment, there are roles here ppl.. offseason is the GMs season in my view.. let the Shanny's worry about coaching, let JL and crew build the thing

Kyle has say over the 53, so he has to be involved in the off season.
I've said this before... the reason I don't think Kyle would get Tom, is because Kyle has this ego thing where he wants to prove he can win Super Bowls with certain QBs. If we got Tom, most will just say it was because of Tom Brady. Imo he'd rather win it with QBs that he developed..... I'll write why I might feel differently about this at the end of this post.... but as far as why I felt Kyle had this approach regarding ego.

When Trey stepped in for Jimmy and helped beat the Texans to keep our playoff hopes alive... you would have thought Kyle would have stuck with Trey the next week. Especially with how Jimmy had played various games before that with turnovers.

It was a perfect opportunity that fell on his lap to make a change.. Jimmy wasn't expected to be back the next season, and the youngster showed how to finish out a game (we didn't need some last second BS to win). What better way to have an excuse to see your draft pick...to let him get experience in the playoffs. You already had an idea how that Jimmy was going to be...on top of that, that Jimmy plus injuries.

But nope.. against Rams Kyle threw Jimmy back out there. Jimmy makes some bone headed passes, and you would think Kyle would have him on a short leash.. why waste a Playoff opportunity on a QB who is most likely not going to be back... one who is once again turning the ball over. Well Kyle stuck with Jimmy the whole game even after more mistakes...but eventually Jimmy and the defense pulled it out to make the playoffs.

Ok.. the next week same s**t again... Jimmy throwing int at the worst parts of games, but Kyle sticking with him.. knowing that Jimmy might not be back.... then Jimmy did it again the next game...but we still won. Then we lost to those Rams.

IMO Kyle wanted to prove he can win a Super Bowl with Jimmy G... then try again a bunch of times with a different QB in Trey Lance.

Kyle would have loved to have won a Super Bowl with the last QB taken in the draft this year. That would have been icing on the cake.

The only reason I can see Kyle bringing Brady in is that Kyle is just desperate now... he just wants to win a Super Bowl with this roster, even if it means putting his ego aside. He'll have other opportunities with Trey or Brock, after Tom retires.

Anyway that's just my opinion on why Kyle does the things Kyle does.
