KS is the kind of coach that is going to get all the credit when the team wins and all the blame when they lose. This is due to his success - he's set himself up to be that way by not having a superstar QB but having a strong playoff team. Is that his fault? No, but it's the reality.
That being said, he made a major mistake by not challenging that call. The moment I saw that catch live I was calling for a replay. The mechanism by which he made the catch (reaching up then having to bring it under to secure while falling on the ground chest/ball first) made it very difficult to maintain possession. KS didn't recognize this and he made the decision that a timeout/challenge was more important which is a terrible miscalculation on a play with massive game ramifications on the line. Guess what? He ended up not using any of those TOs or challenges.
He also didn't call a timeout when it was 1st and 10 at the Philly 34 after the bad punt. We got a delay of game and at 1st and 15 it took the run game away and JJ ended up not doing s**t with the ball.
I think the Devonte Smith play changed the entire game. I know this is hindsight but who knows how the game goes (Does Purdy get hurt? Does KS call the same plays at 0-0 vs 0-7? Do we win the game?) if that red flag is thrown.
We will never know what could've (or should've) happened in this game.
