49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

Ton of people on this board are satisfied with participation trophies….

Not expecting fans to be frustrated with this organization the way the past 28 years have panned out is pretty ridiculous especially the last 12. I've supported and defended Shanahan ever since he was hired, with that said Sunday he got exposed, but let's all sing Kumbaya because maybe in 15 years he may finally win a Super Bowl like Andy Reid (as if there's any guarantee that any of us will be alive to live that long)

I'm sorry guys that's ridiculous. We may need a different direction.

That could all be resolved by fixing the OL.

The empirical evidence we have from the SEASON (not 1 or 2 plays that didn't go our way vs. good players) tells me it's not broken at all.

But naturally we always wanna improve.

Sometimes you just need a little luck. Look how the Eagles just got in. They got lucky with us being down to our 4th string QB. The Chiefs got lucky with the Bengals. The Rams got lucky last year when Tartt dropped the would be int. Sometimes you just need a little luck.

Injury thread says

It's safe to say, the Football God's have saved all the luck for the other team. When it is our turn?

NC keep in mind, in the dynasty years, 49ers hosted the NFCCG eight times, winning 5 Superbowls. Meaning for eight times we had that bye, and 5 times won the Superbowl. Eagles had that bye, we didn't. I dont know if that would have avoided the Purdy injury, but I'm sure it would have helped. Key is just getting into the playoffs until Luck does come our way. Luck for us, this year, was retired. But maybe next year he un-retires.

It's like we traded good health for the entire team all year only to sacrifice Brock when it mattered most.

I'm thinking Slowik - the passing game coordinator- may have been more responsible for the Hassan Riddick blocking fiasco than Kyle. I don't think Mike McDaniel would have allowed that kind of a mismatch. To me it makes sense - he's a first year passing game coordinator which is the closest you can get to being Kyles offensive coordinator. Just an opinion.

That's a pretty common play call. We've seen it across the league. Brock has to know that's the matchup there and get rid of the ball quickly. I feel like he let that play develop too long. He might have been able to move up in the pocket (could have also messed up the timing of the first read).

overall it was another freak injury, is what it is…it's football.

As far as the Eagles go, they can't keep that level team together. They're apparently loosing multiple good players next year already. They're pulling a Rams more or less. They win the sb and Hurts will demand 400m. He's got the 50 lb 200k chain already. Even a modern, team friendly deal will cost them what, 40-50m per?. The other young stars are gonna demand a huge payday too. They need to win it this year. Hurt's ain't staying healthy if he can't learn to be a pocket passer at his size. We end up with a healthy Brock all year, add a rt tackle and stud opposite end rusher and we'll get home field throughout and get to the SB.

Agree 💯%, the future is bright for the 49ers. They have two ingredients to get to the playoffs *every year.* An elite QB (Brock, and possibly Trey) and an elite edge rusher in Bosa. You build the offense and defense around those two foundational pillars correctly and a Superbowl is a stones throw away from happening.

Football is also game of matches and mismatches too. The best coaches put their best guy against your worst guy. Happens all the time. Its a pretty common tactic. Both Brock and Slowik are rookies - i hope the experience teaches them a valuable lesson.

Going to NFCC isn't the same as participation trophies…stop comparing it to just showing up. The Texans get a participation trophy. 28 other teams don't even make it to there…crying about that is pretty sad imo. Go be a fan in NY, they got a reason to be upset. The giants won their first playoff game in over a decade. Cowboys haven't even been to a NFCC game in like 27 years. You got teams with HOF/elite QBs doing less.

Complaining about winning 10+ games a year, playoff games, going to a SB and NFCCs is like complaining about eating filet mignon and not getting wagyu, while over 80% of the league is eating hotdogs

I mean I've seen TEs blocking all kinds of DEs on those play action plays…usually there's some sort of boot away from it, but it's a common play regardless. Brock's gotta have a better internal clock there too. Like you said rookies.

The only thing I'm upset with regarding Kyle from that game is not challenging that catch. Toss that flag out there, it's 4th down and it's the first QR. I'm also shocked the NFL didn't look at it in NY.
My only knock on KS is that he and JL need to get a bunch of big, smart, mean, strong, fast mambo-jambas on the OL, like NC has been incessantly yapping about forever.

Unlike you, I think injuries have a mental component. Be it scheme, personnel, offseason conditioning, strategy or tactics etc... I dont think injuries are totally *random.* i don't think they just happen out of nowhere. Matching Hassan against a 3rd string TE is a mismatch even Bosa is smart enough to take advantage of. I just hope (as you said) both rookies do better next year.

The replay mistake is basically home field advantage, in my opinion. The replay guys may be the local folks that administer and maintain the stadium. they are fans too. Once Purdy went down winning the game was not possible anymore.

I'd be happy with a elite right tackle pass protector that can switch to left tackle when Trent Retires.

Go watch the senior bowl this week. There's some dudes in the trenches and a lot of secondary depth this yr…that's where a lot of our guys are gonna come from this yr for us (based on our picks).

Bingo! Absolutely devastating way to "not advance" to the super bowl. It's hard to even feel like it's a loss to me. We didn't even get to play them. I could have handled a loss (after weeks of misery) but not even being able to compete is painful. Another fun season with ups and downs. We have the right front office, coach, and many key positions in places. Keep chipping away and it will happen. The days of winning a super bowl every year for any team are so far gone:

BUT....BUT....BUT.....we haven't won the SB in 30 years!!!!!

They had Woerner blocking Parsons and Lawrence a few times just a week earlier.

If you don't ever want the 49ers to run playaction again, sure you can guarantee that a TE won't end up blocking a DE.
