But this injured QB thing has to get better. You can't literally be on your 5th string QB CMC emergency backup. That's just absurd. I've never heard of a team in my life going through 4 QB's with injuries. Then being on a 5th string emergency backup. How many times have you seen that as long as you have been watching the NFL? It's not just a fluke anymore. It happens to every QB they have. Some of them very serious injuries. We need to reevaluate here.

I think it's scheme - specially during playoffs and against playoff level teams. I believe all our QB's (Trey, Brock, and Jimmy) were injured against playoff level teams or in the playoffs (Purdy). Trey - in Seattle, Jimmy against the Dolphins. In essence, against better teams, Kyle's smoke and mirrors offense doesn't work as well as against bottom feeder teams.

I like Shanny, too.

But something is absolutely amiss.

Yeah I agree. We have to look at things. Maybe change some of our blocking schemes. Perhaps keep more guys in. Which has the downside of potentially making us less explosive in some areas of the offense. But we can't go on like this. 5th string emergency QB CMC. I don't see any other teams doing this. Some of these are serious injuries. We have to adjust IMO. This team can't go on like this.

This also makes you go back to look at the Jimmy glass narrative. Jimmy was also beat up during the playoffs last year and barely made it through the divisional round. As this offense passed more this year, more QBs were injured. There's definitely a correlation to blocking scheme and QB injuries.

Yeah I think it's our scheme and blockers at this point. We are literally on our 5th string QB. Lots of teams had their 1st string QB in there at the end of the year. No reason to keep doing this.

Against good pass rushing teams we certainly don't pass block really well. There are some problems here that need adjustment.

We beat the current SB Champs twice last year.

Garoppolo was injured in his third or fourth start with NE. People were bringing it up as an issue before he was even traded to the 49ers.

If the scheme is an issue, how did Matt Schaub and Matt Ryan stay healthy for years with Shanahan as OC?

Agree 💯%, that they may have to recalibrate that OLine to emphasize passing vs running - now that Kyle's got his Franchise QB. Which means less importance on running, and hence less importance on possibly retaining Mcglinchy vs maybe getting a better pass protector RT who's not so good on the run blocking side of things.

Good questions, did his scheme evolve?

Maybe somebody can do some research, but I'm thinking they were more of a passing team than a running team hence they had an OLine that was better at pass blocking? Again, Just conjecture on my part.

Lol do you have a natural expectation that we pass block equally as well vs. the #1 pass rush team and the #32 pass rush team?

If yes,....please share why.

This type of thinking defies logic to me,...but maybe I am missing something.

Both Jimmy and Lance got their ankle bent backwards while being tackled. How is that scheme? Purdy got his arm smacked while throwing. How is that the scheme? You know how they got injured? By playing full contact football.

Lance got hurt running the ball. Let's go with a scheme that doesn't force the QB run the ball.
Jimmy got hurt evading the pocket. Let's go with a scheme that doesn't force the QB work the pocket.
Brock got hurt throwing the ball. Let's go with a scheme that doesn't force the QB to throw the ball.
What does that leave us with?
Purdy throws TD and win games
