Steve Young played the game and said that as a QB trying to win over the room, you want to 'run through a brick wall for your guys'. His words. He said this the week after the Bear game, before the Seattle game. It's a coaches job, in my mind, to coach up some self preservation for the most important assets on the club. Both those guys were first year starters with us, and trying to win over their mates and show their grit, imo. KS does have a job of grabbing em by the shoulder and saying look you are too valuable to what we are building here to take unnecessary contact, meaning contact when you can get down or out of bounds.
Brock was a lil different more a bad luck injury, hit while throwing at the exact worst spot. Football is football and there will be contact and injury. No way around it. I feel with some self preservation coached into these guys the last 5 years look a lot different.

Everything bad that happens is Kyle's fault. Unless it's Trey Lance then it's his fault.
