Game is won and lost by consistent QB play. It's the difference Brock made.
Game is won when you can give your QB time to throw, ie the trenches again.
We've gon through the TTT stats.. it's not the OL
Purdy said Aiyuk was getting open, (when he got injured) he just needed another split second to get it to him but the protections failed.
He needed to step up into that clean pocket he had.
I blame Kyle more than the protections, but the protections definitely shoulders some of the blame. I just think Kyle was too aggressive on that drive, and should have worked more on the run game. I don't know if Kroft could have done anything more than he did, considering he's a 3rd stringer (I think) blocking on of the best edge rushers in the NFL.
Going forward, I hope Kyle stays more patient against good defenses. I hope Kyle realizes he has a franchise QB in Brock (potentially 2 in Trey) and does a lot more work schemewise to protect them better and get better protection talent around them. That includes possibly better TEs that can pass block better as well as OLinemen that can pass block with the best.
The offensive line was much better than what I would have predicted at the beginning of the year, and it only broke down in the NFCCG against an elite pass rush team. Great accomplishment but they can now build on that success.
There was a clean pocket to step up into. Brock just needs to speed up his internal clock a bit. So that alarm goes off sooner. He should be counting 3 mississippi and than start buying time for himself by stepping up or looking to escape. I pefer he step up everytime he has a clean pocket. This is the NFL and elite pass rushers get paid big money for a reason.
Like I have stated a few times in this thread. I would rather have Juice on the field over any TE on our roster not named George Kittle. Juice is a better run blocker, route runner, pass catcher as well as a better pass protector than any of our backup TE's. With our top 5 weapons on offense, we can run any formation and scheme out of 21 personnel because of how versatile they all are.
If "if and buts were candy and nuts..." Kyle had a rookie QB going against the best pass rush in the NFL, he needs to be more patient and let the ground game work. The result of the play, clean pocket or no clean pocket, was a devastating injury to his young franchise QB. Freak injury or no freak injury, I put most of the blame on Kyle for having too much confidence in Brock, which - in the long run - run should be a good thing. And Kyle being Kyle and being too aggressive.
I view it like how Kyle drafted Joe Williams, he saw the talent, but he just outsmarted himself because what really mattered wasn't on film. What really matters is protecting your QB in an NFL season. He lost 3 in one season. That could be just bad luck, but maybe not? He prides his system as being so QB friendly that supposedly any QB can run it. He does a lot of play action and depends on a strong run game. So he drafts OLinemen that are better run blockers. Maybe its time to rethink that if he's going to pass against the best pass rush team in the NFL - instead of running on them. Just my two centavos.
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Philly was playing to stop the run and the short passing game. Philly just went down the field and scored a TD. The last thing we needed to do is run into a brick wall and go 3 and out early and give the eagles an opportunity at building a bigger lead and the momentum. We were moving the ball through the passing game just fine. Kyle schemed Aiyuk open for a chunk play. If you want to argue that Kyle is to blame because of a poor personnel decision, I agree. But to try and blame it on scheme. GTFOH!
Then we agree, Kyle is to blame at least partially. I think that big score by the Eagles had him in panic mode in the beginning, sort of like how the previous NY Giants/Eagles game went where the NY coach went for it on 4th down. The Commanders coach was very patient in their win against the Eagles. Again it was basically the beginning of the game, not the 2nd Qtr or 3rd Qtr. Its going to be a learning experience for him, just like the Joe Williams incident. He has to be more patient as he gets closer to the Superbowl.
Losing 3 QBs in a season, don't tell me you don't even look at and evaluate the scheme? Come on now. On top of that - you *have to* evaluate the scheme because you just discovered your franchise QB and want to tailor the offense to his skill set, the best possible way.
