49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

You assume Kyle can see the WR do that from where he was on the sideline. He more than likely couldn't considering where he was on the sideline and where the catch was made. So, again, he has to rely on other people. Can't rely on the defensive players because they ALWAYS say the WR didn't make the catch. Then Kyle sees one replay from an angle that seems like he made the catch. Then his time was up. It sucks, but this is the very reason the league is trying to implement self-reviews in these circumstances, because it's incredibly difficult on the HC to make a viable determination in such a limited time without a lot of information. The league failed at that here, too.

Hufunga had a clear view of the ball hitting the ground and didn't say s**t to the coaches or bring anything up is a big red flag to me.

That's where I feel we are. We don't make enough splash one year signings to have overwhelming talent to overcome the coaching deficiencies needed to win.

Unless purdy is Joe/Tom 2 I don't believe shanahan can win 4 games in a row and call them all correctly against 4 teams with equal or more talent and as good or better coaching.

Oh more than a few...which is a loser mentality

Yep. The excuse is "we don't want to go back to the Chip Kelly / Jim Tomsula era". As if getting rid of Kyle automatically signals the dawn of the Dennis Erickson era once again.

I've said it over many times on this forum. This fan base has become accustomed to the "almost Super" 49ers team. They think that as long as Shanny keeps getting us in the playoffs, it's A-OK because there's always a 'chance' we can win the big one.

I'd agree he should have challenged, even without seeing a good replay given the impact of the play. That said it wasn't just Kyle's mistake. In the end it's still a bad call that the league's expedited review system failed to catch. To me, that's the greater failure.

How many times does Kyle get away these things ?

Doesn't know how to or when to challenge.
Doesn't know how to manage the clock in game time situations.
Doesn't know when to go for it on 4th down.

this is basic coaching 101

We aren't anyone…this isn't the 80s where you can just give everyone all the cash.

that's the great thing about today's NFL it's a year to year league where you can go from trash to the playoffs.

More power to you if you enjoy coming up short year in and year out. . .

Why are you still a fan then? Go be a KC fan if you think it's just cake to be a consistent Super Bowl champ.

We can name a handful of teams that have won MULTIPLE Superbowls since the last time we did. So it may be hard win one, but not as hard as some of you make it seem. Why don't you just go down the list starting with Denver in 98-99 then see how many teams won multiple times in that time span. You'll be surprised that it's quite a few. Just off the top of my head….Ravens, Patriots, Giants, Bucs, Broncos, Rams, Steelers, Chiefs, Packers. There might be some more but that's close to a third of the league.

too many excuses for this fan base…

I think you'll have to travel very far to find a 9ers fan who is actually happy we got knocked out of the playoffs. Just because some fans don't throw the toys out of the cot or post emotional outbursts doesn't mean they're happy about getting knocked out.

You make the playoffs = you have a chance to win the SB
You don't make the playoffs = you have no chance to win the SB

So yeah, I think a lot of 49er fans would be happy to finish the regular season at a minimum of 12-5 or 13-4 every year, it means we have a chance to win it every year.

After that there's zero guarantees, and we could go back through the playoff wins and losses of nearly every season for every SB team and say "if only that had gone the other way" or "damn that injury happened at the worst time". Very few teams would have won the SB without getting their fair share of lucky breaks at one time or another.

It's one thing to change because you genuinely need a change, but what so many posters are suggesting is a change for the sake of change and little thought beyond that.

So your expectation is to beat teams with better talent and better coaching?

Getting to the playoffs and never winning a single playoff game is different than getting to the conference finals. Neither is a SB ring, but getting close is better than not. At least Kyle has won playoff games. Marvin Lewis is a different degree of fail.

imma keep it 💯. anyone who thinks that if you dont win the SB every year, you should fire the coach is absolutely stupid. absolutely no common sense whatsoever.

Who should the fan base hire after firing Kyle?
