49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Thread

OTOH, Kolohe, I rather like the fact that our HC or GM aren't out on the stage telling everybody what we ARE or AREN'T doing. I hated it when Harbaw or his GM took every opportunity to grab the mic and tell fans what their plans were. Much prefer the scuttlebutt that "Brady might still come here", rather than have Kyle state that just to calm everybody's nerves down.

We all know that neither kyle nor JL let anyone in on what they are planning, and it is by far the best way to go. If another team wonders if we are taking a shot at a qB in rd 4, it is to our detriment if we really are thinking that. Much better to have all sorts of "theories" our there about what 9ers are planning, rather than for KS or JL to actually tell the world. Kyle just isn't built that way and JL isn't either.

The original signing of KS and JL was carried out with the utmost secrecy…and that is what's best for the 9ers. It is nobody's business what our F O plans, and we do way better when no one on any other team knows anything about our plans….whether is it signing a player or not doing so. Let the other teams guess.
is Kyle Shanahan a winner?

is he a winner by 49ers standards?

If so, what makes him a winner?

Thats fair

So why are so many people so quick to call him a winner?

I bet this is exactly what eagles fans were asking themselves before they got rid of Andy Reid.

Calling anyone a 'winner' is cliche nonsense. People call him one of the best coaches in the league because that's what the evidence says he is. He took a team and franchise that was at damn near rock bottom and built it into a perennial contender while also building a top quality staff that is routinely poached by other teams in the league. He hasn't won a Super Bowl yet, but that is clearly within reach.

I really think people need to move on from the 1980s to 90s glory years. The league is completely different and so is our franchise.

I would say he's as good a gameday HC as there is in the NFL

my 2 reservations

1. I wish he would get more analytical on 4th downs meaning trust your play sheet and dial something up
2. Let the GM pick the QB; KS is an elite HC I don't know if he's an elite GM

these are pretty mild reservations, tho kinda sucks we are struggling so hard to get the QB spot right

As I just mentioned I think he's a top tier coach, but I also would agree with your reservations here. Certainly point 1. Every coach has flaws though.

Yes and no.

He's a "winner" but not by 49ers standards.

We want super bowls.

I fear we could actually lose another super bowl or two before actually winning one with Kyle because of the QB situation.
