LOL. TBF, he blamed both but expanded to show Ward's responsibility on the play as well. He was the Eraser and got erased himself...in his own words above.

Ward is a leader he's not gonna toss a young player under the bus. He was the last line of defense and the #1 rule shall not be broken as a Safety which is why he opened up to run.

Use your own eyes then. He got beat badly. Completely turned around. CB's get beat all the time. It's the S's job, esp. a single high S, to help erase that 'deep' shot when that happens. It is what it is. Both are at fault.

Yup, Kyle has about a year or so before Fat Andy reconstructs that Chief's OLine for another super bowl run. My hope is that Purdy or Lance can get it done before Mahome's OLine is back in full force.

As long as the o line isn't terrible they'll have SB runs aplenty because of the guy behind center.

Nah. Playoff runs, sure, even deep runs. He's already proven that's not the case. Hence why Andy immediately went and tried to correct it (and did). Now he's lost both T's. So he's back to square one. This year will be further proof of that.

He's already proven he can a SB(s) with the OL getting the s**t kicked out of him

I guess that's fair. Even with his arm punt, I still blame the defense giving up 21 points in 5 minutes then him doing anything magical. That and his OL didn't allow a pressure at the end when it mattered most. He is a HOF QB but even he has his Kryptonite. He won't win it this year though. I'll take a friendly bet on that too.

I agree the defense shouldn't give up 21 points in 5 minutes, but also the cap prevents the 49ers from amassing a wealth of defensive talent nowadays. I still think going into that game we weren't as strong defensively as our five other Superbowl winning defenses. It's a different era. The cap was really an Eddie Debartolo rule to prevent the 49ers from dominating for years. Now with the offensive rules the way they are and the defense shackled by them and the cap preventing defenses like the old Hall of Fame *Steel Curtain* defense from forming on one team - it seems offenses now dominate. I remember Ronnie Lott lighting up a Ram's WR in the playoffs, it was a great play. Today that would be a 15 yard personal foul. Bill Bellichick, a defensive genius, without his Tom Brady last minute come from behind offense, has been relegated to the sidelines these past couple of seasons. I'm beginning to think that no longer do defenses win the super bowls in this age of the pass happy NFL. I think they can get you into the playoffs, but you have to have that explosive offense to marry up with that defense at the final four level to win it all. I think we have that in Purdy, and but for the injury, I think we would have had the better chance at beating KC vs the Eagles - this time around. Oh well.

Weird way of saying yeah that makes sense Crocker is wrong. But okay

This play doesn't get talked about enough from the coverage standpoint imo. We poop all over Jimmy, Kyle Williams, Roger Craig, Crabs, etc for 'choking' in key playoff situations. Emman deserves more mention when we discuss '49er playoff choke jobs'. Thanks, guys. Reading about this is a great way to start my day. The other thing we rarely mention is Deebo running the incorrect route on the 4th down play after the missed deep shot to ESanders (on 3rd down). The 4th down play looked goofy because Deebo ran the wrong route, and that didn't allow Bourne to get open.

yeah cause teammates are so well known for throwing other teammates under the bus. It was cover three he flipped his hips cause Hill was threatening a post route as soon as he saw Ward open up he breaks off his route. It's really not complicated. This is why speed kills and you have to stay disciplined and only 1 players discipline could have defended that route.

"I wish I could've stayed more square," Ward said.

Meaning, I got beat like a drum there...even when he had already seen it run.

That had nothing to do with Eman whatsoever. That's a mental error and it's super easy to see on "film."

Both are true, starting with Eman.
Jfc
E man blew the coverage. To argue anything else is ridiculous. If Ward doesn't close himself off Hill runs past him up the middle. He made him go to where his other defender should've been.

No different than Hills td this year. Wasn't on Ward that Huff took the cheese.

Maybe just stick to critiquing the O line this is outside your element.

Close him off? LMAO. You mean getting spun like a top completely taking himself out of the play?
