Ignore the formation but the circled part is what it looked like to me. There's some natural rub action in this but Garcon's actions show this wasnt a designed pick play.

Now, we can argue if C.J. threw to the right guy because usually in these slant-flat plays the flat is primary.

Kyle specifically addressed this at the presser....It was the last question I believe and I think it was Grant that was asking if the WR is taught to pick on a slant-flat Per usual, Kyle told him what's up. There's no pick....they are taught to run a slant. There is natural pick action in this concept but it's not a pick play....it was an absolute b******t call and it cost us an opportunity at a tying FG. FWIW, this concept is about as WCO as it gets.

Also, Kyle explained in the Slant-flat that against man the slant is the look because the flat really isn't a good route vs man.

Did it ever occur to you that Beathard wasn't ready to run the offense at the start of the season? Maybe the coaches would know better since they are with him everyday...nah you're right.

Lol, how dare you apply common sense.....
Some players are good at auditions (aka training camp and pre-season). A really good experienced coach sees through that. I think we are witnessing some rookie HC mistakes. But he has time on his side and they are not playing awful....yet.

I didn't say anything about at the start of the season.

If Hoyerable made alittle nice easy plays and looked above s**tty, God knows how much longer Kyle would've stuck with him.

We just lucked that Hoyer showed his ass over and over.

And f**k that Coaches know better s**t.... I heard the same stuff when Erickson was here... when Mike Idiot Nolan was here... when Mike Martzless Singletary was here....Tomsula... same s**t... heard that for years. I trust my own eyes.

So despite the fact he traded up to select Beathard, you still think that Hoyer was more than just a placeholder and a guy in the room that was familiar with the scheme and could help teach the other QBs. This ride or die b******t about Hoyer and Kyle is f**king hilarious. It's about as hilarious as Hoyer being dubbed his "hand picked" QB over this fantasy world of all theses other supposed all pro QBs. Rookies take time, scheme installs take time.

Yep

They love saying "Shanahan hand picked Hoyer", like that was first and only choice.

They couldn't get Cousins, he didn't want any of the top QBs in the draft. I don't understand what is so difficult to get.

How come Harbaugh never had the balls to put in Kap pre-Smith injury in 2012?

We saw Kap play in spots and he didn't look anything at all like he would against the Bears on MNF in his first start. Even that Rams game that ended in tie he didn't.

I think it's quite possible you can have an idea but never truly know until it's time.

BTW, a QB doesn't earn his stripe until he becomes the real starter over time. Backups often play with house money since they weren't meant to be in the game, and will be a lot looser and more confident.

Look at the weight that Kap carried in 2013 vs 2012......almost night & day.
Judging by Shanahan's comments after the game it sounded like it wasn't until late this past week that he felt Beathard's practice play was at the point to possibly unseat Hoyer if Hoyer played poorly, which us of course what happened. Those extra 6 weeks as a backup were likely quite valuable for Beathard.

I seriously doubt that comment about past coaches. We didn't have anyone decent to replace our crappy starters

Yeah, what exactly was the error by Kyle here?

Kyle still is going to have to trim the playbook back at this early stage and slowly build upon it each week with BeatHard.

With Hoyer, it was wide open. That tactic allowed the other 10 to get up to speed hence the rushed development of all the youth from Tomlinson, Brown, Breida, Taylor, Kittle to even Mostert, Bolden, Juice and Hyde.

Naturally a young QB would be last to get reps.

I'm not sure why Afrikan is mad as all he wanted in the game day thread was for BeatHard to run more...he got his wish and a TD out of it.

My score: Couch Coaches + Kyle = win-win

You've been watching CJ practice? Shanny stuck with Hoyer for 5.5 games and you act like its an eternity. If Shanny didn't feel CJ was ready until now then so be it. Will you change your tune if CJ comes out and throws 4 interceptions next game?

Why do we have to complain about everything?
