There's a few things I'm looking out for that could be different with the offense as Kyle looks to improve the offense over the offseason, having a full offseason to plan for CMC, Brock, and a dynamic TE2 (supposedly). There was a lot of time time spend implementing an 11v11 run game with Lance as starter last offseason. That all went into the garbage can when Lance for injured early in 2022.

If Kyle can get a good thing going with 12 personnel (Kittle and Latu), it will create a new aspect to the offense that Kyle wanted to get going when he signed Jordan Reed. Unfortunately, in that year with Reed, Kittle was often injured (8 games played) and we rarely saw the two of them on the field at the same time. If Latu is as good as his draft slot suggests, then the 49ers will present a lot of problems for defenses as they switch between 12 and 21, combined with CMC/Deebo being used in multiple roles.

Agree 💯%, and I think that's why ShanaLynch bolstered the TE/Offensive weapon position. Kyle is just tailoring his offense to Brock Purdy. Brock has stated in his interviews that he likes to throw to his TEs. He threw a ton of TDs to his TE (Charlie kolar) in college, and he likes the TE vs DB match ups because Brock knows he can use his Drew Brees accuracy to fit it to where only his TE can catch it.

With a 2nd viable TE, now Kyle can call the two TE formations and any blitz overloads can be handled by either TE. Brock got injured with subpar TE play in the Eagles game. First thing Kyle does in the offseason is to invest a ton of draft capital into the 2nd TE position once he knew he had his QB. Now Brock can TE fake, and roll out to either side and the defense can't cheat on Kittle, assuming that 2nd TE can catch and block similar to Kittle. Defenses can't force Brock to roll to his left now because he'll be as dangerous rolling to his left, as much as he is dangerous rolling to his right.

I like the rooks but let's pump brakes a bit. We drafted maybe the most gifted TE prospect of all time, and it took 4 years before a breakout season. Lot of these guys aren't functional for a bit, think Danny Gray, etc.

I said Kyle is tailoring his offense for Brock, I didn't say anything about TE development. That's not what I was talking about. Of course the rookies need to get acclimated and develop into the Pro game. That goes without saying.

As for the Two TE formation, that is how you deal with elite pass rushers like Bosa who can go from left to right, like Riddick did when he forced a match up with the 3rd string TE, vs going against a first string TE like Kittle. That extra TE at the LOS, if anything, can help in pass protection even if the Elite DE switches sides.

That's a really good point about using two TEs, inline and on opposite sides of the formation - improved pass protection. Not with the TE actually helping pass protection directly by chip blocking, but by simply having an inline TE lined up that forces the DE to take a wider path to the QB, which helps the OT. This can't be said with using a FB out of the backfield.
can't believe we hired him in 2017, what a steal. so thankful to john elway and denver for passing on him. jed owes this dude everything.

Totally disagree

I think how this QB situation pans out will certainly define Kyle, but that will take a few years.

Call me overly optimistic, but I truly think this is the year Shanny finally breaks though and begins to build his HOF legacy. This team is one of the most talented teams ever assembled, and if Brock is who we think he is, then we have our best shot to win a superbowl. It's a long season and so much can go wrong, but if we can avoid being decimated by injuries, then this team is the favorite in the entire NFL top to bottom, we just need to avoid the critical injuries to key players. We now have the depth to survive some injuries, but if our 9 top 100 guys can stay mostly healthy, then we should roll most of the teams on our schedule and comfortably secure the #1 seed in the NFC.

Why am I so confident? We not only have elite starters, but our depth is amongst the very best in the league. We have players like Brown, Womack, Jennings, Odum, Mitchell, and Ferrell, who would be starting on many teams in this league, and then you consider all the talented young kids that have a chance to breakout like TDP, McCrary-Ball, Gray, Willis, Mason, Jamison, Luter, Willis, Winters, Kinlaw, and even Trey Lance if his number ever gets called. With the price of QBs going up, teams are badly lacking depth across the league and especially on many of the contenders, but our front office did the opposite.

Everyone knows star players will go down throughout the season on all teams, but many of these teams will crumble if they lose good players, but we can survive most injuries to our roster once they don't stack up. If our top players can avoid the season ending injuries, then who is stopping this team? There is just too much talent on both sides of the ball for them not to dominate the competition on their way to a superbowl victory.

If Kyle overcome his playoff demons, I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes another Andy Reid or possibly even better. I believe this is the season he finally kicks the door down and goes onto greatness. He's just too gifted an offensive mind to not dominate with all these toys. This has a chance to be a special season if Kyle and Brock can continue to operate as one.

I love the optimism. But I think the teams biggest weakness in one of the most important positions in all of football, Offensive line, will not allow it. We tend to look at the skill positions amd salivate, but the teams refusal to.address the oline will be it's downfall. Just ask Tom Brady how important an offense line is. The guy ate lunch and had time for dessert in the pocket.

traded for and gave a huge contract to Trent Williams

multiple round 1-3 picks on OL. With picks like Burford and Banks really panning out last year the team has gained the benefit of the doubt for sure

We shall see. But a journeyman undrafted center, a n untested 4th and 5th round pick on the right side of the line, and no depth doesn't instill confidence.

both Brendel and Burford were really good last year I think the only ? is RT
