Repeat it over and over.

It doesn't matter. They win.

He also went to 4 straight championship games...you think this locker room is okay with picking Sam f**king Darnold? This is how you start to question the direction of the FO and head coaching decisions as a player.

how do you know what the locker room thinks? you dont.

Love it when a fan base lives up to their derogatory Nick name.

Kyle has been to 3 in the last 4 years.

You aren't at all upset about giving a guy they traded 3 first rounders for a pinkslip after 5 games played?

Eh, if Brock was just some scrub when he came in last year we'd be seeing what they did last year part II - Lance starting and learning to improve as he plays. Brock simply made that a pointless proposition this year with such a talented team. Now it's all about what can you do for me TODAY, and they can't think about tomorrow. Problem is Lance needs the tomorrows as part of justifying him playing. That ship sailed and seems like they'll be doing right by the kid and sending him somewhere where he may have that opportunity even though the team around him is less talented in the immediate.

No because it doesn't matter. They took a big swing and they missed. They also win - ALL THE TIME

Kyle's going nowhere. Jed loves him. three NFCCG and a SB appearance. made Jed money. seems like some here dont understand the business of football.

Andy Reid did the same thing and he got fired at the end of the day it's about Chips not just making money.

A decade later. Context.

I wonder if they called themselves showcasing him last pre season game to try to boost his trade value. B/c his trade value has to be next to nothing in reality.

I'm very curious as to when Kyle realized drafting Lance was a mistake. He made the move to get Sam before Trey was even practicing again, so I don't think it had much to do with this years TC or preseason. Gotta say, at least they're admitting their mistake this quick and not dragging it out or trying to force it. Better for all sides.

I wouldn't be surprised if Shanahan's honest answer today was "I still don't know what Lance's potential is." It's not always a matter of potential, but of OPPORTUNITY. And Lance's opportunity in SF has passed him by due to 1. his injury robbing him of the 2022 season, 2. Purdy seizing his opportunity, 3. the team being too talented to wait for a promising young QB to develop. None of this is Lance's fault, and none of it is Kyle's fault. It just is. It would be wonderful if Lance got to play the next two seasons and turned into an amazing QB for the 2025 season, but maybe by then the team is much less talented overall and a great QB in Lance wouldn't be enough to get over the hump and everyone would be saying "Man, if they didn't blow the 2023-2024 seasons to let Lance develop they could have won the SB those years." It's simply a difficult decision either way.

I understand the draft is a crapshoot. Ultimately a players success is in their control. No coach no scheme can make a player good. Lance was staring at wide open receivers and not throwing the f**king ball. Dude just sucks we drafted a bust. I wanted Fields. Much the same when McGlinchey was drafted I wanted Alexander. I don't care if picks get wasted as long as we are competitive. You want to see me upset just wait til we draft another kicker/punter.

I can't speak for Hysterical but I was once told by fans that the pick's don't matter anymore.

I don't disagree with the swing and miss. I disagree with taking 2 strikes , 3 balls and then forfeiting the at bat which is what this feels like lol it's like why even bother?

Also we aren't winning anything until a qb proves it. Let's hope Brock is it and says healthy.

See my previous post just before this one. Don't mind the trade. They just never really gave him a chance which is my issue. so it's like wtf.

I also wanted Fields

Scenario A: Purdy wins Superbowl, then all is good.

Scenario B: Purdy flops / gets injured. Sam will come in and do his Sam thing. Kyle comes into Jed's office a year or two later and says, we need to draft another quarterback because Purdy isn't the guy. You're going to trust him on Quarterback evaluation again?

And what happens if Trey Lance is succeeding elsewhere? Even more damnable.

What happens if Purdy puts up Pro Bowl numbers, looks amazing, but the 49ers defense gives up 40 points to the Chiefs and the 49ers lose the Super Bowl 40-39?

There are plenty of scenarios where Purdy confirms he was the right choice but the 49ers don't win the Super Bowl. It's not 100% black/white.
